Hog man and HD, I'm grateful for the heads up. I run pubs for a living, and spill rum for a hobby. In between I tiptoe through letters from the bank and pay $10 a week off my bike mechanics bill. I don't need a fragile jacket. I've scrapped up enough for a j 106 and and a teamster, I thought I might have snagged a deal and let the teamster go. I think I'm better off just paying a bit extra and getting what I want.

You're welcome man... Could this be the reason i was fed up with the FL in the first place...

Actually djgo-cat-go provided a very good presentation in post #15 of this thread and was perhaps the catalyst for my post #20 playing the devil's advocate. In any case, I have always been intrigued with the oil pull MWHH in spite of mixed reviews.

I also wanted to add that I feel certain that it was not Bunyip's intent to offend djgo-cat-go by not mentioning him in post #17 but was just telling us that he intended to not move on the oil pulled jacket, largely based on Wilbur's and HD's input. However, djgo-cat-go's input in post #15 will be there for future reference in case someone else is interested in Aero's oil pulled MWHH and initiates a search. So, djgo-cat-go chill out man. ;)

I only have two leather jackets.. My aero A2 is oil pull hh, i bought it 6 or 7 years ago.. i never treated the leather with anything. At first I was not sure if i liked the leather so much, it indeed had a rubbery feel, very substantial but pliable. Not really grainy leather, very smooth. I have come to like it more and more, and right now, i would really recommend it. Sloan quoted the description for aero oil pull hh, and this was the description that made me 'pull' the trigger on this type of leather.. I hope my pictures will be of help to you:

I never was too much worried about being in the rain, it actually holds up very well in the rain.. I never worried to much about staining... as you can see there are some darker markings especially on the right frontpanel.. they were there after the first couple of wear sessions.. Offcourse, it made my heart sink into my shoes at first, but now i think it contributes to the character of the jacket.. The combination of shiny area's and duller parts really make this jacket a looker in my opinion. People are generally very impressed by this jacket still..
It certainly does have a patina of it's own doesn't it? I like that jacket of yours, the hide really suits that cut.

Yes, sorry for that, wasn't my intention at all...I was doing 10 things at once, apologies, and thanks for the help.

Bunyip, my first Aero was a black oil pull HH. It does feel slightly suede-ish - or yes, more like nubuck, as Sloan says - compared to the standard stuff, now that you've mentioned it. It's very pliable but also very... substantial leather. Has a kind of meaty quality to it, difficult to explain. As for the colour, the jacket was considerably lighter than any regular FQHH Aero I've had, bordering with gray. Anyway, perhaps you'll find some use of this: http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab227/DogLizard/MC/DSCN0486_resize_zps49ed9df3.jpg
I've taken a plenty of hi-res photos of it, plenty of close ups :D so just keep clicking left for more photos and don't forget to click the magnifying glass as the pictures are quite large.

It's certainly different stuff isn't it?

chillin'with a beer in my hand and my feet up ;) I didn't look at it that way.. the pics will stay on the lounge for future reference indeed, for what it's worth.. Just wanted to share my enthusiasm (as allways) and took the time to make some pics... and hoped to infect Bunyip for this type of leather... Then again, i am not knowledgeable about leather at all and I only own two nice leather jackets.. Well, bla bla bla...

I really did like your presentation of your oil pull A-2 and am of the strong impression could be useful to someone in the future contemplating oil pull MWHH which could well be me.

Actually, Fanch, you're absolutely right. I am new around here and, although owning a few leather jackets from different makers, I was thinking of buying an A2 in oil pull. djgo-cat-go's pictures are really impressive, very persuasive... It does seem to me that everybody's mileage varies with this stuff, guess it's the Marmite of leathers (for those of a certain age or nationality) but those pictures have really got me thinking. Thanks for sharing djgo-cat-go.

That A-2 of djgo-cat-go's has been influential. I got my first Aero jacket, a Highwayman, in brown mid-weight oil pull HH based on seeing his original posting about his A-2 several years back when it was new or nearly so. I still have the Highwayman and it has developed nicely over the years.
