LW HH= Thick and hard
Aero HH= Thick and soft

I think Aero is made for a much faster breakin and faster patina while LW is tanned like leather was seventy five years ago when people bought one leather jacket and wore it for thirty years. There's no question that LW HH is more durable as I own both and LW will show no signs of wear for years while Aero (cordovan in my case) shows everything. The furrowing and patina thats developed on my Aero is incredible after three years while it will take my LW probably ten years to look like that. The Aero shows every scratch while the LW shows nothing. If you want to buy one jacket and plan to wear it all the time get the LW while if you want a much faster breakin and patina get the Aero. They are both different but equally good.

Hi Norsksea.

I've owned a half-belt for a number of years now, and never thought I would be able to get the leather to break in enough to be comfortable to wear on a daily basis. But I tried the technique described on the link you provided, and it really worked, taking only two sessions, at about 30 minutes each.

Thanks!

All three manufacturers make high quality jackets. The LW tanning method definitely penetrates the hide far more than the Aero. I think it is all personal taste as to fit and finish when comparing the higher end manufacturers. I will never wear any of these jackets out in my lifetime and I hope my son has as much enjoyment out of them some day as I do.
FYI the LW A2 has gotten as much usage as the ELC A2 so it just shows how different dye techniques wear differently

Kenal0,
Your Highwayman is spectacular. I tend to prefer the color of Aero's brown FQHH to the russet offered by Lost Worlds. Is yours in the "vintage" brown?
Thanks.

It is not vintage brown that I recall. I got it a while back and did not think they had a vintage brown back then. I think it is just brown.
I have a highwayman in Cherry and a longshoreman in Cordovan that looks very nice. I also have a half belt in brown and a black highwayman in the lightweight horsehide but the jacket in the picture is my favorite. The ELC Roughwear is a close second.

Looking at that Aero Highwayman made me want to place an order.

As for the debate pertaining to the Aero and LW HH's, I can say this. I just bought a Downtown in Black HH. I love it. It feels like it could quite possibly be bullet proof. I love the fact that it is durable and that it will take a while to get a patina. I think black leather looks better that way. Brown HH, on the otherhand, is a whole different story...Just my two cents.

I have had several LW utility jackets...and currently own around ten or so Aero jackets of different hides. I also ride a Harley from spring to fall. LW and Aero do get their FQHH from Horween...but their finish products are quite different. Where LW FQHH is heavily dyed deeply into the hide usually with a darker base coat and is quite 'bulletproof' to showing wear..or patina....Aero has a light base coat with a more translucent topcoat that offers transparency showing the charactoristics of the hide and developing patina. Aero's FQHH forms marbling grainy patterns where LW hides more often have stretch mark like grain patterns.
My new vanson 'Enfield' has become my favorite riding...and street jacket. However..it is black heavyweight steer rather than FQHH. As heavy..or almost as heavy as the hvy FQHH...but more flexible and also quite grainy. It is patterned and cut for quite comfortable MC riding. It has been my experience over 40 some years of riding ...that hvy leather doesn't have the tendancy to flap in the wind. Certainly the little Enfield collar won't.

Best description, ever, of the differences between Aero leather and Lost World's- simply different!!
