Aero Leather question

Hi

I want to buy an Aero Leather Jacket.

I am 185cms and 80kgs (athletic body).

I wear L in slim jacket and M in regular jacket. 40 in UK and 50 in Europe.

My size in regular shirt is 40".

I doubt between two Aero models:

1. Highwayman. Regular fit. I don't know if I have to buy 38 or 40.

2. 1930s Half Belt. Slim fit. I don't know if I have to buy 40.

Can you help me?

Regards.

I think you are a 40 in the HWYMan and a 42 in the 30s HB. You could go down a size but you have to check if the shoulder width will work for you. 185cm height you would need to add sleeve length.
Contact Holly @ Aero, she can give you the details.

BTW I wear the same size regular jacket you do, 42 Slim or 40 R. And the regular highwayman turned out mixed feelings for me. I haven't experienced the premier one but it looks better and I would try it sometime down the road. It doesn't hurt to look at both the regular and the premier HWYMan. The regular is boxy with a 22" hem that can be cinched to about 20" ish, which is what I do. But the sleeves are curved so I always feel like its a bit short on the inside cuff. Good luck!

Hard to say. Why don’t you measure up a well-fitting jacket (shoulder, chest, arms, body).
As a first guess, not more than a 38 in the regular HWM and 42 at the HB, but could well be even a size down each.

In the bend, you will need to discuss details with Aero to nail the fit.

Enjoy the ride!

You should measure a jacket that fits you well and go from there. Height and weight alone tell very little about what size you need, especially with Aero, where sizing is all over the place, from super tight to super huge in your regular size.

The Highwayman sits very similar to a fashion trucker jacket, short and boxy, so if you own one of these, I‘d measure that. The 30s HB runs like two sizes smaller, is trimmer in body and sleeves.

If you want a neat fitting jacket, the Highwayman isn't for you. I have one and love it (if anything, it's been worn more than most of my other jackets save only the Bootlegger), but it's a more generous, boxier fit by design. I've seen a few people over the years try to size down two sizes and such (or even, in one case back in the "anything goes" Lauder years, try to rearrange the jacket measurements to slim it), but all that happens is they end up with a jacket that looks odd - because they're wearing a boxy jacket too small, rather than a slim fitting pattern.

To reiterate, the Highwayman is a fantastic jacket - I love mine - but if slim is what you want, look to another pattern. The Original 59er Highwayman is a touch slimmer. For something more akin a slim halfbelt but with a more minimalist style if that is what is desired, try looking at the Premier Highwayman or one of the variants of the cafe racer / Board racer with a shirt-style collar.

Thank you for your answers.
I'm from Spain and the problem are customs. Aero Leather oficial site also does not allow payment by paypal.
If I buy a jacket from Aero and it don't fit on me, Aero don't return to me customs I would pay and this is the problem.
Maybe I have to try it in Scotland (Factory).
Too bad.

A factory visit is well worth the trip if you can swing it.

Understood, but this ist true for most of us. You will need to do some talking to Aero, but they are pretty used to getting the fit right.

If all fails, and the jacket just doesn’t fit (which happened to me one time in some ten orders from Aero), they will declare a „return“ and you won’t have to pay customs on the exchange item. I’ve been there with them.

Bienvenido al forum. I would agree with Panda. Furthermore, there are great gents who can give you excellent information regarding jackets. The highwayman runs a little big in my opinion. I own two highwayman from 10 years apart in production dates. I normally wear 42 in most jackets. For the highwayman I am a size 40. Perhaps you can search in the classified section for old thread on this type of jackets. You will get a very good understanding of the measurements and other relevant information. Suerte!

Aero has an amazing support team, you can ask them all your questions and they will guide you to the best possible fitting. When I ordered my first Irvin I was pretty convinced with my measuring but they suggested me some tweaks which we agreed upon and my jacket when it came it was perfect thanks to them.
