I made a mistake. I bought a lightly used pair of Aero leather pants. In appearance, similar leather to a jacket I already own and like. The strangest part is that I got the waist and inseam measure which was exactly my size, but when they arrived, it’s 2 or 3 sizes larger than my normal pants size. Somehow that is all hidden in the rise. Is this typical problem for riding pants or did I just get lucky?

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but if you mean,
Do riding pants usually have a higher rise waist then usual pants?
then absolutely yes they do.

Modern jeans and slacks are cut with a much lower rise than they “should” be. Pants used to ride at your waist, around your belly button, now they ride at the hip bones.

For use seated on a motorcycle, riding pants are patterned so that the the waist of the pants sit higher than where your body bends, so that
1) they don’t dig into your waist and
2) they don’t gap between your jacket at the small of your back when you’re reaching forward to your handlebars.
