That's an amazing article Sloan!
Ken is responsible for this?

Wow! I guess I was into Aero Leather before I even stopped growing!

However, this is bizarre. Noddy Holder was behind so many of my nightmares.

I'm glad that Ken was as equally disgusted by 70's 'style' excesses as I was.

Yes, I saw that. I get the impression that people posted some choice comments which were erased and then the thread locked. He's such a sensitive soul! :D

Happy to give the article a second airing. Just glad I didn't write it any earlier than I did...

Strange, IronHeart (Giles) reopened that AL thread and allowed a couple of innocuous posts before locking it again. [huh]

Yeah, interesting that comments such as;

'I probably should add that most of the longer serving Aero staff went off to form Alexander Leathers a couple of years back. I don't know whether this has affected Aero', is permitted given that it seems to show a willful ignorance of the facts of the court case in the very least. Anyone would think they had an agenda!:eeek:

I'm still waiting for Alexander Leathers 'legal team' to get in touch with me! What the hell is wrong with these people?

I'll say it again;
Alexander leathers opened with a full range of 'original' leather jackets, of which 2 may have been designed by convicted criminal Will Lauder during his time at Aero, and therefore he may (or may not) have had ownership of those designs and the right to sell them to Alexander Leathers (again, or not).

However as for the remaining (what?) 12 designs or so that were offered from the get go, who designed those?
Where is this unsung design genius?
Where did they study fashion, design, and leather working?
What are their inspirations?
Why do they chose to keep their identity a secret?

This person exists, or they don't.
If they exist, Alexander Leathers, put up their profile (or at least their name) on your website!
If such a person doesn't exist, then where did all the designs and sized patterns come from? Magic?

After all, in court it was revealed that convicted criminal Will Lauder had Aero staff spending 6 months copying patterns and the trial revealed that he had taken copies of patterns away from the Aero factory.

I've got a Ph.D, but I think my kids could work this one out.
2+2= ?

Am I the only one who can't open those links? They're not working for me.

Outstanding!

Thanks very much, but I can't take any credit (and I wouldn't want to for Noddy's style!).

But let this not distract us from the main point! Which is...

If convicted criminal Will Lauder did not take the patterns (that he had Aero staff spend six months copying), and pass them on to Alexander Leather, then that means that Alexander Leather has a designer (or designers) who created all of those patterns, in all of the different sizes, prior to opening.

Who is/are these designers who have received no mention at all on Alexander Leathers website, despite being key staff who were integral to the start up of the business, and must have been working tirelessly for many months before the company actually started taking orders?

Wouldn't it be the easiest thing in the world for this/these designers to come out and say who they are, and get the recognition they deserve for 'creating' 'original' vintage 'inspired' designs?

Given how few new designs have appeared on the AL website in the past year-and-a-bit, and I'm not counting the ones with just extra pockets tacked to the front, I wonder if they will be able to coax whoever designed them back into the studio? [huh]

Surely with such timeless vintage classics, no new models are needed?
Or maybe thier design genius has used up all thier inspiration, and is now a burnt out wreck?
Or maybe thier design genius, having come up with so many 'original' styles and sized patterns, has already moved on to bigger and better things?
Or maybe #convicted_criminal_Will_Lauder_of_Alexander_Leathers has given them everything he had already? Maybe he can get some 'work wear' inspiration at HMP?
A kind of 'Norman Stanley Fletcher' chic?
