To add, Aero does have one distinct counter active advantage, if you choose the tumbled FQHH or their Horween steer, the leather really gives & can form to you body nicely.

My first reaction to the OP question is: why Aero of all makers. The stiff hide, the high shoulder cap/low arm
Hole, is not exactly friendly to muscular physiques. Vanson/Langlitz are much much more ergonomic. Aero is like that by no fault, it’s what they are meant to be.

I knew vanson was good for tapers, is langlitz too?

Does stiffer hide tend to be pain for the kind of fits discussed in here?

Aero jackets can indeed taper:

Agree with Regius - on some Aeros the small arm-holes are a drawback - makes getting them on/off a bit of a chore - and cramps shoulder movement. My advice is to stick to your guns as to the fit you desire because the folks at Aero may try to convince you that they know best - I found out with 2 custom orders - despite giving them my measurements (6'2", 50" chest, 38" waist, 240#) one jacket was way too bulky around the stomach and the other was too long so that it sort of messed up the style and fit I wanted. Not showstoppers and they are both wonderful jackets - but for $1200 a pop you should get exactly what you want. For riding, however, Vanson, Langlitz are better options for the most part. I only wear one Aero for riding and that is an Aero CHIPS Police - in the summers. Sorry I don't have pics of mine but here are 2 from the website - this jacket has a great "bodybuilder" look to it in my opinion.

Depends on if you get a custom Langlitz made or buy off the shelf. Off the shelf - the Columbia is a bit "blousy" but they do have side laces for adjustment. The Cascade is more form fitting and generally a tighter fit but no waist adjustment. Many 2nd hand offerings will be custom jackets (they will have a name and some other info inside the inner chest pocket) whereas off the shelf will typically just a size stamped there. So, if you buy 2nd hand custom it is important to get all the measurements. Columbia is "cruiser" style with lapels, Cascade is cossack collar style or "cafe racer." Here is the iconic top-of-the-line 10 pocket padded Columbia - a thing of real beauty.

I would say even the off the rack Langlitz, any model, is the ideal choice for bodybuilders & for power lifters, who tend to be bulkier (as a good thing) the Langlitz can even be too tight around the waist. As far as bodybuilder/powerlifters are concerned (I’m a bodybuilder but not power lifter), the chest/lat/deltoids is the main pain. The mass monsters can’t even tie shoelaces with no clothes on.... Langlitz is perfect on the bicep & deltoid department, they construct the arms in a special way (not special if you know tailoring techniques) that can accommodate most any arm size. Bates also does it. Vanson however, I’d stay away for big guys because the lining material is not very strong & can rip simply due to the sheer stiffness of the leather shell & your bulky muscle. PM me if you want the story. Langlitz has a tough nylon lining option. Aero’s CHP & Route 66, Indian Ranger, should all be good for mobility & non-boxy look, but, they all lack the “bodybuilder” slope on the shoulder due to choice. Langlitz again, can make the shoulder slope the way you want it, really amazing. I always say that the reason Arnold looked that way in T1 & T2 is largely owing to the Bates jackets shoulder profile. Had he wear a Schott (even with the epaulettes delete), he won’t look that way. Although he would look equally good in a Langlitz & maybe a Vanson.

I’d respectfully disagree. To me most langlitz jackets look cut for out of shape, barrel bellied men. The sleeves are often cartoonish and saggy (you’d need 30” arms to fill them). The torso is rounded and creates instant Ronnie Coleman gut. It’s not a flattering look to an athletic physique by any means. I have seen some very nice fitting langlitz but I consider them the exception, not the rule. I would want to provide them with a myriad of very specific measurements to get the fit right.

Instant Ronnie Coleman gut...love it! I know what you mean, I have two rack Langlitz & the upper biceps are quite round, but to me not “out of shape” & with wear, they should flatten out & appear less baggy. But I’m not sure about the belly though. If you find the belly to be ballooned, I can’t see how a “flatter gut” can actually zip up for a power lifter?
