Hi guys, I'm interested in a slightly longer length jacket.something that sits a bit below the hips. Can anyone shed some light on this question...the long half belt and hercules...are These similar length? Also wondering how they then compare to the teamster?
If I was to get something like this, I imagine they would be a big heavy beast fqhh, mayb be quite nice in mid weight hh or even goat?
Thanks for any help.

AFAIK are the LHB, the Hercules and the Teamster all the same length and the same overall cut, with action-back, halfbelt and side-adjusters. I have the LHB in FQHH (sometimes I wish it would be the Teamster, definitely like the style!) and, albeit it's heavy, I manage...;)

I wouldn't worry about the weight of the longer ones. When I compared the weights of my short, medium and long FQHHs there was only 500g or so total range, and the Teamster was only about 300g more than an HWM.

Thanks guys, very interesting. The more images I'm able to find, the more the teamster is really growing on me. It's more fitted than I initially thought...I guess the weight isn't a big thing, and I've read on here, that leather doesn't actually keep you too warm, more to do with lining choice..I'm waiting for my first new aero in the coming weeks. Once I get that on my back, I'm sure it will give me a bit more perspective. Cheers.

In my experiance thick leather doesn't keep you warm in the cold. But it will overheat you more than thin leather will when it's warmer.

Bunyip - I had a Long Half Belt, now I own a Teamster. I much prefer the Teamster, which has a much less busy/bulky bi-swing from the yoke down, instead of the folds going all the way up to the shoulder. I'm also getting really used to the buttons instead of zipper, and prefer it now. I'd answer about the weight, but my Long Half Belt was one of the "storse" monstrosities, and weighed in at 11 lbs., so not really apples and oranges. I find the Teamster very versatile, and my climate is also pretty warm. I went with a lightweight tartan, including the sleeves, and I'm happy with it. Alpaca was too warm, and the cotton drill made too much friction on getting shirt sleeves in and out. Good luck, Frank

There is a certain latitude in body length for the same model. I was told that the standard size 42 Pioneer has a body length of 26". I ordered mine with 26.5" and could easily have gone with 27". As a point of reference, I am 6'2". On the other hand, I ordered my Teamster with a 28.5" back length, which is a completely different look than the standard back of about 30" for a size 42 Teamster. I will say that on cold days I wish my Teamster was the same body length as Russell's Teamster. :D

I was told that a size 42 Mulligan had a back length of 26" which would be along the same lines as the Pioneer, although the Mulligan might fit a bit tighter than the Pioneer but not sure. I think the Mulligan might be somewhat similar to the Aero Maxwell sold by Insurrection but with patch pockets on the Mulligan rather than slash pockets as on the Maxwell. Personally, I think that the patch pockets with flap on the Mulligan would provide a neat look with different utility than the slash pockets on the Maxwell, although the slash pockets on the Maxwell probably present a cleaner look. I will say I am not too keen on the left chest flap pocket on the Mulligan and well might order a Mulligan without any chest pocket at all if I were to do so, again just my personal preference. OK, I didn't mean to diverge from the main subject matter of this thread.

Excellent feedback guys, much appreciated. I ordered a sunburst from thurston last week. I wasn't too sure re body length..I let Carrie do her thing. Being in Australia, the only aero I've handled and actually seen is my letterman jacket I picked up on eBay. Once I get mine from Carrie, it will put the teamster length etc in perspective. I think the buttons would take some getting used to, but it all looks quality...it's really grown on me the Teamster. Will keep you posted. Cheers again.
