That's a big 40 size though. more like a 42.

I wear a size 42 in most brands but a 40 in Aeros. If thas was an inch longer in body and sleeves it would be perfect for me.

I could wear it, but I don't know that I would like Vicenza as much as I would like CXL, and it's only 20 quid cheaper than a new one in CXL would be.

My thought too, for a 20 quid discount, might as well get custom length and get the leather i would want.

That's true, in general I think that the main advantage of the jackets at aero "sales" page is not the marginal discount but the fact that you won't have to wait 2.5 months.

If you factor in the extra £75 for Vicenza is over 10% discount. Not bad for a no wait jacket with no faults.

Of course, it needs to match your measurements otherwise is pointless to drop that kind of money on a jacket that doesn’t fit.

That's true, i hadn't factored that in, to me Vicenza is a downgrade from CXL so i didn't think to add the extra £75

That was my thinking as well, although I don't know that I would consider Vicenza a downgrade. I know that I like Horween CXL but I haven't handled a Vicenza jacket in person. But probably for a motorcycle jacket I'd prefer heavier/stiffer leather.

Co-worker of mine bought a Vicenza jacket. It is nice but not something I would purchase. Much prefer some of the other stuff out there. Definitely prefer something else when on a bike.

I owned both CXL and Vicenza and I think they are both nice leathers with clearly different properties. I believe that there are styles that go better with Vicenza and others with CXL. I wouldn’t want an HWM in Vicenza for example.

As long as protection on the bike goes, I don’t believe Vicenza is made with the intention of offering protection from a slide, it’s meant for casual use. I wonder whether CXL is good enough for that, but I don’t ride so honestly not a discriminating factor for me.

Oh man... I've got an old Indian Ranger sitting in the collection that I've been meaning to have restored. It's perfect, just needs a liner. Jacket has so much character and amazing patina to the leather, Aero would be the perfect folks to restore it.

I realized I never update this thread to include the jacket Aero made for me. This is a unique one, it's a one-off in CXL FQHH, which they will not do again. They prefer to use Vicenza for this pattern. Here's a few shots of mine, which has only minimal wear on it at this point.

Adding some new info to Aero's Ranger, 4 years later...

My first Ranger was a stock size 40. It was too tight at the waist so I went up one size to a 42. Somewhere in between I also got into an Elvis (size 40) which is a very similar jacket so I will included in this post as a reference.

Size 40 Ranger is about 0.5" smaller in P2P and hem than size 40 Elvis, which is then about 0.5" smaller in P2P and hem than the size 42 Ranger. Hope this makes sense. Also, the my Elvis was made in Badalassi leather which is very stretchy. I remember the Elvis (when new) felt like the size 40 Ranger, but with some wear it gained a bit of hem width which was nice. For the record I have never been able to stretch Vicenza HH or CXL. Your experience may be different.

One other thing to point out is the main zipper. I had the rectangle Talon pull on the Size 40 Ranger. But on the Size 42 I was given the boxy Talon. It was communicated to me a the time of ordering that zips will be confirmed at the time of production due to availability. For the motorcycle jacket I would prefer the rectangle pull. But anything is better than the bell shaped pull.

And about the leather (Thickness/Feel). The Badalassi scratches easily. I think this is why Aero reworked them with a top coat, which then creates a lot of squeaking noise. Where the Badalassi shines is the surface texture and the pliable hand feel. It also seems to weigh more than the Vicenza. Both feels about the same thickness, but the Badalassi Elvis weighs one pound heavier, 6.4 lbs vs 5.4 lbs.

So about the pattern. The waist is very fitted. Shoulders aren't huge, between 18s to 19s for the medium sizing, but the chest circumference is very generously sized. I think it was designed as a way to compensate without full action back, or fully activated action backs all the time. These jackets P2P don't matter as much as the waist measurement.

(Aero) Shoulder slope is some where between Lewis and Vanson, which are at the two opposite ends of the spectrum. Sleeve attachment also matters a lot. But overall the Aero MC jackets seems very capable, except the main zip. Bigger is better when it comes to main zip, and number 5's just don't really cut it for a full time MC jacket. This is just my theory, I haven't experienced failure on the boxy talon in 5's yet. But it's not a hard choice between a number 5 and number 10.
44 Lewis vs 42 Aero vs 44 Vanson. One other thing to note is that the Lewis pattern may be different for the "perfecto" styles cross zips, but I only have the Mk1 archive jacket so it might be the reason why it's so different, in a good way.

I am posting these in hopes to shine some light on the shorter Aero MC jackets. Which imo is the hidden gems in the Aero line up. Very different than most of the other Aeros.
