GORGEOUS AERO LEATHER "HERCULES" JACKET!
Made in Scotland. OFFERS WELCOME!
Size 44. Measurements:
Chest: 24
Sleeve: 24.5 (straight down)
Shoulder: 20
Length: 29 (bottom of collar to hem, measured straight down the back)
DESCRIPTION FROM AERO'S WEBSITE:
A mid 20th Century staple foul weather jacket, longer than the 1930s versions, as manufacturers began to take advantage of a more reliable supply of raw materials and an upsurge in the US economy in the 1950s.
The Hercules is a more detailed version of the typical American long half belted jacket. The front of the jacket has a deep cord effect detail starting mid-way up the sleeve and running downwards to the bottom of the coat/jacket.
There are five pockets: two side pockets and two large patch pockets with lovely curved detail on pocket flap, and one breast pocket. The sleeves have a typical American false cuff and benefit from storm cuffs for those who live in a cold climate. The back has a longer "Cossack/Half Belt" type styling with belt and buckle side fastenings and there are three brass underarm eyelets for ventilation.
SUMMARY FROM AERO:
• 1950s style
• Relaxed fit
• Longer cut
• Zip closure
• Angled chest pocket
• Two hand-warmer pockets and two flapped patch pockets
• Half belt back
• Side adjusting straps
• Storm cuffs as standard
DESCRIPTION OF THIS JACKET:
This is an absolutely beautiful example of an Aero Hercules! Cut from a beautiful, rich, dark brown waxy Chromexcel horsehide in (I think) Cordovan (I believe Aero now upocarges fro this leather) this is lined in a gorgeous tartan lining from Lochcarron of Scotland; this lining also appears under the two lower pocket flaps. The Cordovan CXL horsehide and tartan lining were both upcharges.
It features two interior vertical pockets with press-studs for secure closure. These pockets as well as the top chest pocket and the two lower pockets are all lined in hard-wearing cotton drill in olive drab; this also lines the cuffs. Both cuffs feature storm cuffs for additional warmth.
The sleeves are also lined in olive drab cotton drill for ease of wear.
The main zipper is a YKK zipper which moves beautifully smoothly and is very easy to start. The chest pocket zipper is an Aero zipper which also moves beautifully fluidly.
The jacket is in very good/excellent condition. It does have some minor scuffs from wear, as shown, especially on the arms. The tartan lining has a tiny pinhead hole, as shown--this can easily be ignored.
How about $475, OR OFFER, boxed, shipped, and insured in the CONUS?
