This Cal CR Ton mentioned is my favorite leather jacket and probably the best tailored one I've ever handled.
These are the proper shoulder gussets which extend all the way down & below your sleeve and connect to the side seam of the jacket...
...so when you reach for something, there's nothing to pull on the sleeve and restrict your movement.
You can see here how there's a lot of material left in the gusset fold, which allows complete range of moment. Cool stuff!
On the other hand, here's my second favorite jacket, the Schott CR, which has more of a... well, a standard shoulder gussets design, the kind that end at the middle panel. It doesn't look all that much different but...
...when you outstretch your arm - or just the sleeve in this case - you can see that it's actually pulling on the seam, not the shoulder gusset and ultimately makes little to no difference. Which kinda sucks. But this still is a very cool jacket which I love to death.
