Aero Cafe Racer - Opinions!

I have Aero's steerhide CR, much like Griff's before it was modded. It is tan but was "aged" by Aero, and IMO they did a wonderful job on that. I have owned (& still own) old leather jackets and the artificial aging looks pretty convincing to me although I realize it may be sacrilegious to some. Also, I have the satin lining and my only concern is that the satin runs down to the edge of the cuffs and is now sticking out beyond the end of the sleeve just a little. In retrospect, I should have requested an inch or so of leather inside the cuff to prevent that problem.

I've noticed a few people have had this issue with the sleeves - I'll ask Amanda about it when I place my order. Cheers!

Ok I think I've got my final spec, big thanks to everyone who's given me feedback, this forum is a great place, only made possible by the great people!

Specs - Aero Cafe Racer

Brown
Heavy FQ Horsehide
Dirt rider style collar
Black Cotton Drill lining
Half length bi-swing back
2 G-1 style pockets in lining, snap closure
Inch + of leather inside the sleeve ends
Extra length on the sleeves

Any final thoughts before I 'pull the trigger'?!

I think the smaller biswing is called "shoulder bi-swing" or "bikers-bi-swing" just so it cant be misinterpreted.

Also, I cant see any specs of how many outside pockets you want.

And I think its wise to tell them exactly how much + you want in the arms?

And you might want to specify what hardware - nickel, shiny or "aged" brass.

Griff - thank you, that's very helpful.

Yes - going for 4 outside pockets. I'll give Amanda my arm length and explain I want 1 inch adding. And I think I'll go for the shiny brass and let it age as the rest of the jacket breaks in.

Thanks again!

What was Amanda saying about the "dirtrider" collar? Are they making it for you? Are you going for the same collar height as in the picture (pretty high!).

Yep, they're making the "dirtrider" collar. I wanted it higher, that was the only thing that I wasn't sure about with the cafe racer style!

Doublegun, check out the half length biswing back, which is just behind the shoulder area and not all the way down to the kidney panel. It's a good middle ground if you don't want to go to fully plain back (which is also a good option, have a look at GriffDeLaGriff's CR which he had changed from biswing to plain).
I went with the shoulder only bi-swing as I felt the full biswing back was a bit much and not functionally necessary for me, and I think it gives the bit of extra room when driving or crossing your arms etc, but still looks quite smooth from behind.
As for the leathers, you could always ask Amanda to send you some samples?

Can anyone tell me if the "Bikers" back or "Half-length" back give you enough freedom to ride a bike or drive a car comfortably?

Thanks.

I think we, at Insurrection, were the first to develop this Aero back style with Will at Aero. We worked with Will with the pattern off of a 1960s Bates jacket.

Yes, you do have quite a bit of freedom and you will be able to ride your bike or drive your car in a comfortable manner.

Thanks. So the back will look like the back on the Insurrection Aero Cafe jacket?

Exactly!

A customer of ours took this today with his camera phone and emailed it to us...

Just one "T" rack, and over $10,000 USD in beautiful Horween horsehide!!!

More Aero FQHH jackets arrive on Monday!!!

You'll definitely have enough room, as long as the jacket is sized properly. Not too big and not too small.

This is such an awesome photo! It reminds me of what those in the 1940s and 1950s were lucky enough to choose from for their outerwear!

Hello, here you can see another interpretation of the bi swing back. it is between the biker´s back and the full swing back. I asked for a higher kidney panel, so the swing back gets smaller. I will post a thread about the jacket soon.

you will be surprised. This cafe racer is complete different.
