There is a lot of talk about modern Aero jackets on this forum, so to make a change here's one from the original firm dating from late 1941 to 1942. The 21996 contract was a large one and there are minor difference between jackets of this contract, such as the shape of the bottom of the pockets, collar points and positioning of the collar latch. Here are some pics of one of my jackets from this contract. It's a size 42 and you can see the reddish undertone where the seal finish has worn off in places. The waistband is original, but the cuffs are ELC bought replacements. This is one of my favourite jackets because I like the contrast between the shell and the berry knits. It has a wider back than many size 42s and is very comfortable to wear. There are no issues with the leather, which can be a problem with this contract.

I love how the finish has worn - gives a real sense of visual 'depth' to the leather. Also agree with you on the contrast between the knits and the darker leather - I've always liked that on the Aeros. That and from what I've seen, the original Aeros (and repros based thereon) seemed to have much squarer pockets (in particular, at the bottom - some even squarer than these) than other contracts, which I really like, both visually, and as it gives at least the impression of a tiny bit more practicality.
