Advice on leather boots for colder scandinavian climate

Hi,
I've never owned a pair of winter leather boots, so I would like some advice on materials, warmth etc.

In Denmark where we have a colder climate in the winter. Day temperatures for January and February are around 0 degrees Celsius (freezing point).

The maximum exposure to the cold at a time will be around 45 minutes to an hour. I do think they will get quite a bit of walking in though, as I plan on using them for a long weekend trip to Berlin in January, where will will do quite a bit of walking around to sites etc.

There are a few questions on my mind.

Would I need a pair that is lined with some kind of fur or insulation to keep me warm, or will leather boots with good socks be sufficient?
I have heard that a rubber sole is better for wet weather. Is that the general recommendation, or is a leather sole sufficient?

Please let me know what kind of boots you use. Especially if you live in a similar climate.

You don't need any special winter boots on danish climate. Proper leather ankle high boots wit good socks and insulating insole is enough.

Actually you can use there anything, well. maybe not Flip-flops

0°C isn't cold......

Thanks, I see from your location that where you are, chances are, it's quite a bit more chilly than we have it ;-).

One of the reasons I ask is because the store are overwhelmed with boots that are fur lined in some way or the other. My only reference to my own footwear is my fishing boots which are not leather but lined Gore-Text boots. But I also stay out in those for a whole day, so obviously they need to be a bit harder wearing.

Best boot bar none they are rubber and not leather good to -50 check out Dunlop Purofort Thermo,almost everyone in the oilfield industry in Canada use them,also being rubber you never have to treat them with anything

Mukluks? With your choice of insole wool or sheepskin, dont forget about a thick sock

If your really looking to keep your feet warm but anyway I found that a good thick wool sock is all I need for daily wear with my redwings. BTW its usually -20 to -30 where im at

In zero degrees you don't really need any special boot, just about anything will do as long as you remember to leave room for some thick socks, as others have already mentioned.
