If you go back a couple pages in this thread there's a link.

You keep saying this but I can't for the life of me find it. Can you please just copy the link and repost?

Update: I've just skimmed through this entire thread again and can only find the update dated 6-14-2011. Perhaps you're thinking of a different thread, either that or its been deleted, or I just can't see for looking.....

sorry I thought that link was the recent one from COW. I don't know where it is on COW.

I will give you a update now. He still has health issues. He is working when his health will let him. There are orders being received as someone posted here just a few post ago. I don't know what kind of other update you would like.

I understand it is frustrating but there really isn't anything else that can be done. I just know Steve and he will fulfill those orders. Just as a reminder, he isn't jet setting, buying hookers, sports cars or doing drugs with all this money. He is broke, his health has done him in. He almost died. He still has health issues. He is doing the only thing he can right now to make good on a bad situation. you can monday morning quarterback everything he did wrong but it isn't going to change things.

When I find out more I will post something. If anything changes, I will post something.

@carranty: I sent you a pm.

I've just looked through the link you sent, my sincere thanks sir. I wouldn't ordinarily link to other sites, but considering this thread began with a repost from cow, and how little information there is on this site, I see no reason not to. If an admin has a problem with this, just pm me and I can modify the post accordingly.

Subsequent to the update in post #1 of this thread, Steve Delk wrote another update on the Club-ObiWan (COW) website dated January 2013, I include the link below (provided by BJC88)
http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=58928&p=818710#p818710
For those of you who are not members of cow, I repost the update below

Hello all. I am sure most of the fans here know I have suffered from cancer and have been really sick for a long time as we fought it. I have suffered like I did not know a human could suffer but it seems that I have it beat, I think. I am in remission. My immune system is still weak and I seem to catch everything that goes around and even a scratching a bump turns into a huge infection. I am now finally recovering from the flu with pneumonia which the flu turned into and have had to deal with that since Dec.

But this long illness has left me devastated financially which has effected the business of getting hats made on old orders. And so I am here with hat in hand begging for some help. I really need to sell 6 beaver hats in order to get the production moving again. And while I have pride I will accept charity too as I am in dire straits today. I have lost everything but my hat shop which is still on my mom's land. I live in a 30 ft camper, having lost my house but the only money that I owe are hospital bills, chemo bills and of course I owe people hats. I paid my utility bill this month but my water will be cut off the 20th of this month. My family basically can help me out no more and so I am appealing to you guys.

I went from being on top of the world with making the last Indy hat to almost dying and losing everything. My life insurance policy would have cleared up the old orders by refunds which would be handled by my daughter so no one would have lost a thing upon my death. My daughter has kept that paid up for me thankfully.

So if 6 people would please purchase a beaver hat real soon it would save me and I would get these made within 4 weeks as I have a huge cache of hat bodies bought several years ago when times were good and before I became ill.

I am a proud guy but I have had to lose that pride with this illness and so I will take charity if no one wants a hat. This is killing me to have to come here in this way but it is my last resort. I feel that if something does not happen to turn this around I very well could be charged with fraud or something similiar. I am frankly surprised it has not happened already, but being as sick as I was that was not my top worry. Living longer, or not dying was.

My email is sdelk@cableone.net if anyone can donate to old Fedora and I will thank you ahead of time. Also anyone that wants to email me you can do so at that address. You guys know my website so I won't post that.

I want to get back on top of things and gain some respectability again yet that will require some help from the fans, and I hope I am not asking too much. God Bless all of you and I hope this is a good year for all of us.

Oh, I have a cell phone, but no service right now. If I can sell 6 hats and get some charity help, I can get it on. My number is 662 570 5873 and I will post here when I get it on so if anyone wants to talk they can call me. I am not at the site phone number as that is my mom's phone and I no longer use it. Thanks! Steve Delk

For those members who are inquiring as to whether anyone who placed an order prior to 2010 has received their hat, the above thread contains posts from at least one member 1BAT4U (post dated Oct 24th 2013) who was in this position and who has received a hat that he is extremely pleased with, he even creates a separate thread to review his hat. It's possible that there are many more such stories on the cow forum, and it may be better for posters to look there for further testimonials.

I hope this information goes some way towards resolving many frustrations many posters have. Again, I mean no disrespect in posting the above information, I simply wanted to get what info there is out there - which I believe was the original intention of the thread.

Thank you for finding that and posting it. Thats the one I was talking about.

There was a few that helped. To those people I thank you. I also did a Delk thread where I sold a few of my hats that was sitting at my shop at a discount. All the money went to steve. To those people, I thank you once again. He is back on his feet some what and working when he can. He still has some health issues since this post. Thats about all I can up-date from that post

You can see by this post that he is trying everything he can and if he dies he has in place to refund everyone he owes a hat to.

Having recently lost both my parents to cancer, I feel for Steve and his family. Sad, sad situation. I pray he gets better and can find that spark of life once more.
Peace to Steve....

JUST TO UPDATE:.. My hat was ordered and paid for in 2008, after years of sending letters asking for updates (none of which were answered), I was at last promised by Steve, in an email he sent to me in the middle of last year, that the order would filled and sent no later than the end of Dec 2014...it's now March 2015..and guess what??!! ...No Hat! ..I've emailed 5 times this year without any reply.. I've sent these emails from different email addresses in case they accidently ended up in Steve Delk's junk mail... I have now asked for my money back... to be paid to me by the end of next week..... I fully understand the problems that Steve Delk has had, but to be kept waiting all these years without any update or notification is totally unacceptable...

Hello everyone. Long time reader, first time poster.

I was wondering if anyone has been in recent contact with Steve Delk of Adventurebilt? I am currently awaiting my first "proper" fedora (a Raiders Indy, natch) but Steve has been unresponsive of the last two e-mails I've sent (over this past week) inquiring about its status. I was due to have the hat by Xmas and am just wondering if he is prone to sometimes taking long to respond during busy times or if something might've come up. I'm well aware of his stellar reputation, so I'm not sounding any alarm bells, but he was extremely fast in responding to me a few weeks ago, which is why I'm wondering.

Cheers,
//Joe

Thanks for that. I missed it in my search. Probably since it has been silent for over a year. Odd thing is, Steve was communicating regularly with me in October (even after my order was placed and paid for). I am certainly not willing to wait years for mine. I will send one final message and see what happens.
You may not have a choice

I too have been waiting since 08 for mine. I have just written it up as a loss. I don't expect to ever see the hat. It has really left a for ordering anything custom made from a vendor.

Dont let that ruin it for you. Our custom hatters here on the Lounge are incredibly honest people.

I concur. Nothing but good experiences with Art Fawcett, John Penman, and Jonathan Cordova - just to name a few.

I have been a member of this forum for many years and have heard too many sob stories and excuses for this particular vendor after these many years. Perhaps he should get out of the hat making business. Sorry so many had to go though the experience.

It is most unfortunate what has happened to Steve. With that said he has always been spotty with his communications. If you have ordered from him lately (past year) he has been keeping up with current orders (from what I have read on other forums) so if he said Christmas, I would pour yourself a tall glass of scotch (Glen Morangie would be my recommendation but there really isn't such a thing as bad scotch) and wait. If it doesent come, or no responce from communication by Christmas, Then raise the flag. I know it's hard but I had to wait two years for mine and I got my order in right before the rush.
Hope that helps.

Johnny

Like JohnnyC said, I got my first order in to Steve in Nov of '07, just as the real insanity was firing up over Indy 4, took 28 months, but it did arrive. My second one was a year or two ago, after the cancer, when he was trying to raise funds to keep going and fill orders. That hat was at full current price and he delivered in a couple months. I haven't heard from him in quite a while, hopefully he's still plugging away trying to keep up. Sorry to hear about those left in the lurch for nearly 10 years, nothing I could say would make you feel any better about it.
