I absolutely understand the frustrations, but I also find this a very unpleasant thread. Sometimes I almost get the feeling, that people would feel better - or at least less frustrated - if he had died.

Like everyone else around here, I don't know the whole story. However, until I hear otherwise, I assume, Steve is (or has been) very ill - and that he is caught in deep debt with very few options. I sincerely hope, he doesn't read these pages. I'm sure, they don't do anything good for his health.

I think your right. People would feel a lot better if he had died and that is very disgusting.

He could have pulled a chapter 11 and everyone would really be out but instead of that he is working through illness to fulfill orders.

XPLSV was simply asking if this is truly the case, I read his post and felt no hint of such thoughts. He has every right to ask such a question in a thread like this.

If I'd been waiting 7 years for an order, and was not receiving any response from the business I'd placed it with, I'm not sure I'd be so polite.

I wasn't saying anything negative towards TheDane. I agree about how this thread reads by some. You can harp all you want but try reading my post about his health. A lot talk about what great community this place is. Well, where are all the people coming to his aid? where is all the compassion, Where is all the understanding? HE is doing the best he can and will fill the orders when he should just call chapter 11 on the entire thing.

Here's your time to show what a great community this place is.

There is nothing going on in this thread that some status info wouldn't fix.
No need for individual status or very specific info but to know you have a paid hat order acknowledged and some update on progress being made.

I have complete compassion for the ravages of illness but also have complete understanding of being left with no idea of what is going on. I do not have an outstanding order but I am a participant in this website. The people with unfilled orders have no idea if they should forget it and go order another hat from somewhere else with the risk they do that and then the ordered hat shows up.

This is not about community but about a businessman's relationship with his customers. Your loyalty to your friend is laudable; calling out people who have waited, patiently, for four, five, six years for not being adequately patient is not.

The creator of this thread, jlee562 (05-29-2013, 10:32 PM):

"Gentlemen, considering the last Adventurebilt thread was closed because of such continuing disagreements, I suggest that we all agree to disagree and leave the issue to rest. At this point, nobody is covering new ground."

Since nothing substantial new has reached the thread, that is still pretty sound advice, IMHO.

I'm not saying they aren't patient but the attitude of almost wanting the man to die, Is absolutely disgusting. Lets not focus on that disgusting attitude, lets focus on me.

Agreed, though that's exactly what this thread was doing until you implied the guy who wrote a polite/civil post wishes Steve had died. I'll assume it wasn't intentional but when you write posts like yours (#180), it usually starts a debate.

Lets get back to the original question though shall we

"Has anyone with an old order (pre2010) received a hat from him since 2010?"

I don't understand your hostility, I've not read the whole thread, but I've read all posts from the last twelve months and I see no indication whatsoever that any of them wish any harm to Steve, quite the opposite in fact. I sense some frustration in some of them, but this seems natural to me and I don't think we should attack them for this anymore than we should attack Steve for falling ill.

Can we please leave this thread to the courteous, polite posters that have thus far been using it, and leave out our own (skewed?) perspectives on what people don't say but really mean, at the door.

If you're been waiting for X years. Really let it go. Write it off as a charitable donation... At least in your mind. All you are accomplishing is keeping alive a six year toothache. Even if you eventually get that hat, will you be able to look at it without bringing up negative feelings? Let it go, treat it as a charitable gift. That way if someday a hat shows up on your doorstep it will be a nice surprise rather than a bitter reminder of a bad experience.

Sir, please let me encourage you to re-read the thread. It was exactly not, what (some participants in) this thread was trying to do. That's probably, why Jared several times (more or less in vane) have tried to get it back on track and purpose.

It's very hard for me to see how your own contribution can be of help to anyone in this thread. You are not in any way involved in this very very sad case - and you probably have as little actual insight as anyone else on the Lounge. Yet you "just had" to dream up a scenario, where you had ordered a hat from Steve - and let the dream evolve in the worst thinkable way - and the tell us, how you would have felt about the situation ... IF that had not been just a "thrilling" daydream of yours. Yes, you posted this after my post, but that doesn't change the nature of your post - and my post was a reaction on posts of that very nature.

There are more than enough people, who have had problems, due to Steve's unfortunate health problems (and probably poor businessman-ship) - and many have quite understandable told their story in this thread. That's only fair.

We are hundreds of loungers, who have not ordered anything from Steve. Of course, we could all dream up scenarios, where we indeed did order - and where Steve did not deliver - and then post our prose here. Who would all those dreams benefit? Why on Earth waste time and energy on dreams like that? Who would need or read our fiction ... in a thread with a whole other subject and purpose?

If we did so, we would not contribute to the solution of any issues. We would just throw petrol on an open fire. In my mind, that would be anti-social behaviour in a social medium.

If you take the time to re-read the thread, you will see too many examples of this. Especially one member's three contributions are on a level (and of a nature), that shouldn't exist on a social medium for grown-ups! Social media do really weird things to some people!

In your latest post, you write: "Can we please leave this thread to the courteous, polite posters that have thus far been using it [...]". Again, let me please encourage you to re-read the thread. We cannot be talking about the same thread!

I'll have no more to say in this thread from here!

Read your post before this one. You said it yourself.

Man. I sure wish nobody is saying they "wish" that he died. Bad mojo, that.
The only thing I find goofy is that he decided to fill new orders as old ones lay fallow.
Anyway, wish the best for all and hope you guys all get your lids.
