Adventurebilt hats - anyone ordered from?

I couldn't help but notice that Steve mentioned a Indy 5 hat. I know he can't tell what he knows but I'm excited for the next one.

I am pretty sure that that was just a typo. I am sure he meant Indy 4.

Not necessarily. There have been rumors about a fifth Indy film circulating and I have heard Steve speculate more than once that he might get the job for that one. -M

It is true that steve will probally get the job for Indy 5. However, NO such news has been said. IT is just like you said, it is on rumors.

Nothing for nothing, but so long as Lucas is writing and Lebouf is acting in it, I will be skipping. I skipped the fourth installment because of those reasons and according to every single person to whom I have talked and every single evaluation I have read about I 4, I made the right choice. My childhood memories of the Indy trilogy end with Ford, Connery, Rhys-Davies and the late Denholm Elliott riding off into the sunset. I have managed to erase the second movie out of my head as best I can.

Back on topic, I hope Delk gets the contract for a fifth installment as I am sure he will.

I was not impressed with Crystal skull...and I'm certainly not eager to see an Indy protege' hog the camera. Ford plays the role admirably...so what if he is old; with viagra, plastic surgery, and wheat-grass enemas these days 70 is the new 40. lol

But, i'm still a sucker for the movies and would see it regardless of any crappy script they may throw at the audience.

Anyway, given this is the TFL and not a message board on movies. I will say that I thought that the Temple of Doom fedora had the look of a hat that has truly been beat up...whereas Crystal skull looks like a much sharper hat; suited Ford very well.

The crystal skull (gray) travel hat while sharp; I thought looked oddly out of place in the movie though- took place in the 50's right? not sure how to explain this, but I felt it made him look old or maybe forcing the character to look "vintage" If they are going to update the time frame...probably could update the daily-public-travel-hat to an something more fitting of that time period, they updated everything else in the movie; just keep the old school Indy look the same since it is his digging in the dirt outfit.

Oh all the speculation of a new movie, and just watching Raiders again.... Seeing Steve post here about his hats... I can't wait for mine. Back in '07 when I paid, it seemed a bit high to pay that price for a hat, but now with the prices up and the times WAY up, I can't wait!

No I never did get a reply on the status, I'm still waiting patiently. Hopefully my name will come up on the list soon though. If you search back through this thread you'll find someone named REAPER who specifies his order date of May 19, 2008 (after mine which was placed on March 11, 2008) and received his already months ago on Sept 12th. So my only concern was that mine was lost among the thousands of names or lost in transit :S.

Thanks for the explanation Steve, I appreciate your dedication to fans of the film and look forward to owning and proudly wearing a peice of film history. I'll certainly be posting happy photos of me in my hat the day it arrives. But any update would be greatly appreciated.

In regards to the Indy 5 annoucnement, Marc Kitter, the other half of Adventurebilt has stated on Club Obi Wan that neither himself nor Steve have heard nothing other than the basic online rumors that everyone else can find on the web:

Going on 20 months myself... but the wait should be worth it.

Also, I understand Steve fills the blocks as quickly as possible so if you have an unusual size, you may get it sooner. More popular sizes are a little slower since that block has a longer waiting list.

I'm at 22 months (2 years at the end of February), so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get the thing, but I doubt you've been forgotten. I'm waiting on a traveler gray. I have a BIG birthday coming up. Maybe it will show up for it.

Adventurebilt waiting time

Hi,

I just got my Adventurebilt CS. I payed the $650 and received it within the quoted 6 weeks. What I don't understand is the difference in waiting time. If you are desperate to get your adventurebilt within the next 6 weeks and you are sure that Steve hasn't started your hat yet, can't you just cancel your old order and re-order with the increased price and the reduced delivery time? Just a thought.

Instead of going thru the process of cancelling, you could probally just tack on the extra money to get to $650 & it will bump you up. I would talk to Steve first though.

Oh aye! Of course you should speak to Steve about it first. I wasn't even suggesting that it would be okay to do that, it was just an idea. Steve might not like it at all. It's just that I noticed that there were quite a few people here with anxiety regarding the delivery times. At $250, or whatever the price was it seems like he was practicaly giving them away, especially when you think of the labour that goes into making one. Although I know very little about the hat making process (by hand) I'd say that $650 is a more reasonable price to pay for Steve's blood and sweat especially when you think of the quality of hat and the prestige. :eusa_clap

True, however i was refering to the fact that it would be easier to just add money to your order to bump it to the front then it would be to cancel an order & make a completly new order.
