Ads on the Lounge

Just noticed that I'm getting a lot of annoying banner ads - not the usual Thurston etc - have appeared on my page, even when I'm logged in. Is this a change in the Lounge's policy or is something wrong with my settings?

Just logged on and yes, there's large ads that don't seem to be the standard FL sponsors.

Might be so..yet we do have to think...it cost some "moolah" to run the Lounge and some of the Ads are things many people are interested in to purchase. So for me, the ads are a good thing.

Ah well, not great, but it's the price to pay for keeping this type of forum going.

They are Google ads. You can use Chrome (or Firefox) as your browser and install the AdBlock extension if you don't want to see them.
You'll still see the sponsors ads, which are embedded in the pages.

I noticed the same thing. I had to report one because it was inappropriate. It was an ad on "meeting" Russian women. It went a little more in depth than just saying that though.

After the recent database difficulties, when we got back up and running the settings we defaulted to what you see now. We had previously set things so that full fledged members would not see any google ads.

We will probably change it back at some point. But please don't begrudge us a little time to make much-needed hay.
