About roan leather sweatband.

Hi to all,
just a question, stupid maybe, but help my knowledge...
What means "roan leather sweatband"

Aren't these kind of sweatband made of "true" leather or what?
Are these better than the "leather sweatband"?
I know that it's a problem of languages...anyone could help me with a corrispndent italian word?

I'm pretty sure that roan leather is sheepskin. So a roan leather sweat would mean a sweat made out of sheepskin. Some are "reeded" in order to conform better to your head.

Isn't roan pinkish or redish leather, as in Roan Cattle?

Roan leather

Here you go.

A soft, flexible kind of leather made of sheepskin, used in hatmaking, many think it makes the finest sweat bands for hats.
