I won't keep anyone waiting. I just got a Civil A2 from Gibson-Barnes. Dark brown cowhide. Great jacket!

It seems as grainy as my issue A2, and maybe a little bit different in shade. A lot more stiffer, tho, which is what I was looking for.

For those of you who guessed Good Wear, you were spot on. It's a Security Aviation Togs A2. The leather is dull russet aniline horsehide. It's already very soft and pliable so it will require almost no break-in. This was a test jacket made in a size 46. John sent it to me for a try on to check the fit. I first tried it on with just a t shirt, and then with a sweatshirt. The fit was excellent on both accounts.

There is no sag in the shoulders, and no tightness in the chest or stomach area when fully zipped. The sleeve length is good with slight tunneling at the cuffs, but not so much that the cuffs disappear. When I raise my arms the jacket only slightly rides up but not past my belt line. When I stretch my arms out in front of me, the end of the sleeves slightly ride up.

The zipper in my opinion is quite unique. Both sides of the zipper are riveted at the bottom for extra strength. The hook and eye latch is sewn into the leather as per the original contract. It also has a collar stand and of course, the snaps. The pocket flaps have buttons rather than snaps as per the original contract. The epaulets are a thing of beauty. Both are very uniform and precisely sewn.

To say I'm happy with the jacket would be an understatement. John is a master of his profession and truly deserves every accolade he gets. It's no wonder that he is so backed up on his orders. His jackets are works of art and worth every $ he charges for them.

I know I don't have to say this as you already know, John and Good Wear gets my highest recommendation. Excellent products, customer service, and excellent professionalism.

Will I buy another jacket? The answer to that question is a definite yes.

I gotta tell ya Guys, I've only had the jacket a few days and I'm already thinking of at least two more from JC. I've got my eye on a 1939 Werber and a Dubow 27798. I guess I've been bitten by the Good Wear bug real bad.

I adore John's take on the late model Aero contract, with the seal body and the red knits. One day I hope to have one, but the pound will have to come way back up against the dollar first!
