Wondering what thickness the hide was for period A2s. I gather it would vary somewhat. Would I be wrong in thinking the goat and horse A2's would generally be between 2.25 oz and 2.5 oz?

Can be quite thin, my Lucky & Seven jacket is around 1.25mm, measured with a micrometer It whinnies rather than moo's. I am used to taking careful measurements but the mic still clamps a bit so allowed for a little extra.
As for weight ?.

Well 1.25mm is pretty thick, actually - it comes to 3 oz, which is starting weight for a motorcycle jacket. I just looked at the Goodwear site and for John's repos the goat is 2.5 oz and the HH is 3 oz.

Well that was only an estimate, I dont think it is anywhere near a bike jacket thickness, certainly not front quarter horse anyway.
Just how do you measure the thickness of a hide?

No idea, you're the one who brought it up with your micrometer. And you were probably accurate since Bill Kelso also describes 3 oz HH. I think Aero uses 2.25 oz for HH A2's. Period hides, who knows?
