Just received this early G-1 beauty. I've handled these before but this is the earliest. I love it! I'm told these are '47-'51, and the broken stencil with brown lining dates '47-'49. What's interesting is that it also has the USN punch on the oversized wind flap but very small. I also like the low pockets down to the knit. It's a little stiff but intact. If you read my earlier post about treating goatskin you can see why I don't want to destroy the patina.

Very cool! It seems like the 55J14 series of jackets are more rare than the M-422a's. We just don't see that many around anymore. Good luck with her and congrats!

Nice. I have a pre-war Hercules labeled jacket with the A Pritzker tag attached. The only time I have seen that.

I condition leather when it needs it; too dry. The steer hide Buco I just purchased was recently conditioned; it was too dry. Yes it has wear on the sleeves, (sun tanning) (patina) and it is still there after conditioning. And that is where it needed therapy. The jacket looks/feels healthier and no lose of patina. Without conditioning this jacket would have dryed and died. Look at the Old Goat in my Old Goat Round up Video. Check out the Buco in the Video MC thread. I posted pics after treatment and it is shown before.

Old Goat can get brittle like cardboard.
