A PERMANENT REFERENCE section here

Howdy -- In the "Holy Grail of suits" thread, Matt mentioned that the "Golden Era" area will have a permanent reference section with resources on the subjects that interest us. This is a wonderful development! Hats off to those who will make it happen.

Since my overriding interest is in vintage clothing, I'm hoping that the resources will include suit/hat/shoe charts, fashion illustrations, period fashion photos, and articles.

What I'm curious to know is, what kinds of resources would you find personally valuable and interesting... and would you like to donate any resources of your own to the section?

Pictures. scanned period articles. too bad you can't feel fabric samples over the internet...

Ultimately I want it broken down by decade with a description of the differences with fit and make of the clothes and links to pictures of suits and clothing for refference of the era.

I have been so busy with work lately and haven't had online access at home for a while so posting and keeping track has been a bit slow though I do want you to know Veronica Parra that you posts are a treasure and I Love every picture.

Sorry about the largeness of the font size. I've been doing that for a while because someone from the Lounge once sent me a message saying that my posts looked tiny. This confused me, because on my computer screen, the size looked normal. Nonetheless, I heeded his advice and compensated by enlarging the font size. Looks like I went too far!

From now on, all my posts will be in a size 2 font.

It would be great to have a one-stop glossary of hat terms: materials, shapes, components, manufacturers, maintenance products and techniques, etc.

There could also be similarly structured glossaries of clothing terms, WWII uniform terms, watch terms, pen terms, shoe terms -- what have you.

We could even have a glossary of typical Golden Era colloquialisms; a list of great films, songs, radio programs and books organized by year or decade ...

Sounds great, but whatever is generated needs to end up going on the Golden Era website: www.thegoldenera.net , which is also owned by MK, and is a sister site to the Lounge.

Wow! That website is terrific! I had no idea it existed. MK and company have really outdone themselves.

You're right: that's the appropriate place to post glossaries, references and so on.

Funny coincidence about the the "violin" radio on the website's front page: I saw one in an antiques shop in Chile. The wood veneer was chipped in places, and one of the original knobs was missing. (I don't know if the radio worked.) Even so, the seller wanted about $550 for it. For three years, I went into the shop from time to time. The radio was always there.
