A makeup quandary. .. Time to down tools?

Hello ladies,
I love to wear vintage for events but feel I may be getting a little long in the tooth for some of the styles. I would like to create a more authentic 1950s make up look and wondered if there were any recommendations of links or threads. The Internet is a wonderful thing but tutorials are biased towards the pin up look and I really feel that this doesn't suit my more conservative style. For example I love the winged liner look but can no longer achieve this on my hooded eyes and red lips do limit my already thin lips! !! Are there any tips or resources from those amongst you who prefer a more traditional look and who are coping with hooded eyes crows feet, thinnning cheeks, wrinkles. .and are past the first flush of the peachy pin up look? I guess I'm looking more for how older lakes of the era would have applied a more classic style without looking frumpy! .:-( Thanks in advance (and I do hope that I havent offended any of you more mature ladies who still rock the pin up style with aplomb!)

I have Lauren Rennell's book, "Vintage Hairstyling". Almost all of the looks are lovely and would work for everyday styles that don't make you look like a pinup. She also has a book on vintage makeup.

I'm in my thirties and usually just do powder, mascara, and lipstick.

update: that is a really interesting website, yes it does have more of the everyday styles I was looking for. If anyone has any other advice, I am a human sponge!

Here is what I do to achiave a vintage look in a hurry with out a lot of tools or to many make up steps.

I do the make up look form at least one of these two videos. I never ever do a wingged eyeliner I just line the top of my eyelids close to my lash line with pencil liner in the color grey, sonia kashuk pencil liner is my current favorite. I never use foundation I do use physicians formula BB powder on my T-zone and the BB cream for my under eye circles. And some tines I do not use any powder at all. I to have crows feet and a few wrinkles in my face. I just rock my vintage look grey hair and all

I do not use an eye lash curler, mascara primer makes applying mascara super easy. Tarte(s) eyelash primer works the best.
I stopped using eye shadow brushes I use the eye shadow applicators which is so much faster along with an eyeshadow primer so my eye shadow stays put.

I have wavy hair I have not curled my hair in months and I lightly apply sea salt spray to my hair to bring out the waves when it is down in the back.
I like to twist my hair into a bun and clip it in place with a jaw clip to keep my hair out of the way, too.

Thank you for those links Miss Nathalie, that is a helpful amount of homework for me!
I must say regarding the winged eyeliner, I have found that, by moving to more muted tones such as dark purple and browns, I don't look quite so full on. Black really creates a strong look and isn't so forgiving on the fine lines and hooded lids.

I rarely do a strict vintage or pin-up look, but many people interpret my overall look that way. I think this is because of my features and coloring more than the makeup I wear. I have to say that neither of my grandmothers wore much makeup for day. One has always used no more than a bit of brown brow powder, brown shadow, and maybe blush. The other wore powder and pink lipstick. I wear a lot more than that, but products are different than they once wore, and I also achieve a light look. For days when I don't want to look made up, I'll use my foundation/powder/concealer very lightly, add rose-pink blush, black mascara, and a natural-toned lipstick. I use a tiny bit of brow powder, and then smudge what is left on the brush against my upper lashes. I don't think vintage has to mean winged liner and red lipstick at all.
