A-2 collar stand sticking into throat – any suggestions?

I agree. I like the look of the collar stand – especially with collared shirts. Just wasn't crazy about thehook sticking in my jugular. I've now unbuttoned the collar (stupid – should have thought of that!) and will get to twisting with the HWT if that isn't enough. It's been too hot in London for jacket-testing of late. Summer isn't the best friend of the retro fan.

I'm confused. A collar stand is the little piece of extra leather at the back of the collar (neck). All A2 jackets I've seen have hooks at the front. What would you leave off to prevent this poking problem?
