This is a really good point and one worthy of a thread of its own. I remember seeing a couple of Alexander Leather jackets that were based on vintage jackets, and they were big pocketed horrors. It wasn't so much that they were inaccurate, it was just that they were horrible designs in themselves.
Yes and the tendency to exaggerate those features from AL/SB certainly doesn't help.

Yeah, there used to be a clear demarcation between street clothes (which were jackets and ties) and "sporting" clothes. I remember when most of the men at Yankee Stadium wore suits, ties, and hats. I must be getting really old.
