This is the second Queen I have owned. The first was a 50s model with black quilt lining and Harley label. It was not marked, but was steerhide. I sold it within a few minutes on ebay.

I don't know much about these and can't find a good source. I'm hoping some one here will know more about them. I did find that these jackets first appeared in a Harley accessory catalog in 1954 called the "Companion" jacket. The men's jacket was the Cycle Champ. It was said to make it's first appearance in a 1947 catalog.

When I think of the earliest of the MC jackets I think of a wool lining. Buco, Hercules, Sportclad, post-war jackets started with that type of lining, then moving to the quilt style. The Harley jackets followed in the same way. The earliest of the Harleys were Horsehide labeled.

The seller picked it from a man who outgrew it and sold his bike in 1951. It would not take much to outgrow it! There is very slight staining in the grey lining. Other than that it does not look like it has ever been worn.

There are no markings or tags in the jacket and does not appear there were any. The belt is marked. "for 88 jacket". The zippers are all Conmar and were black. I've seen this on other jackets from this era. Not sure why.

It is small. It does smell, feel, and look like horsehide.

Very nice jacket! TBH, this is my least favorite motorcycle cross zip, could never get over those two large pockets but I still appreciate it for what it is. Terrific find in any case.
And seriously though, I had always wondered how these used to fit in comparison to today's women's leather jackets.

Anyone knows what are these vertical lines on the shoulders, though?

They are usually called 'Darts' to shape the clothing into a more suitable shape, you notice them more on a suit jacket that has a nipped in waist, placed here they will help the jacket fit around a woman bust and make the jacket slightly baggier in this area. A mans jacket that fits a woman across the shoulders will stick out at the belt line and can allow drafts in(Depending on the size or shape of her bust).

Got it. Thanks, man! I didn't know that. So it's not something exclusively found on women's jackets?

I once had a made to measure 1960s Lewis Leathers jacket that was obviously made for a man who probably was a body builder as it had a 32 waist with a 46 chest. Very hard to find used female fitting jackets that fit correctly as I had to show a rather well endowed woman how her jacket stuck out around 4 inches and advised her to get it altered because of this problem. Luckily there was enough length to do this and not spoil the look/shape.

I think it's gorgeous, to small for my wife and too large for my daughter should you ever put it up for sale but just damn good looking! I can fantasize some gorgeous lady riding down the highway on her FL just digging life and looking for the twisties......
