Does anyone know anything about this? I have see those billboards/ bus stop posters around and they are so darn attractive. And the cast seems spot on for a western this day and age. Thoughts? Info? Secrets?

Probably the case. But I look forward to it. The Proposition and Three Burials are high up on my ALL TIME westerns list, even. The Western is not dead. Just unloved by too many.

I love westerns so I'll be seeing it for sure. I found The Propostion most impressive.

I'm usually not a remake fan, but I've never seen the original so that won't be part of the equation for me.

As an Aussie and a writer, I thought the Proposition was utter rubbish, Nick Cave proudly stated that he wrote it in three weeks, and it showed.

I wanted to love The Proposition but thought it was just o.k. on one viewing. A fine score and cinematography but a couple of characters left me wondering about their place in the film.
I should see the film again..

I just saw the film tonight. Great cast, great scenes, great story, I'll see the original when I can, don't walk in expecting anything, keep your eyes away from knowing the story, and go see this one!

I like Westerns, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is my favorite film. And 3:10 to Yuma has a Stargate alum in it and I want to see this movie for him. I'll definitely be seeing this one.

Most reviews I've read out of 4 stars have given it 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Peter Fonda is also in the movie. Its the cover story on the latest issue of "Cowboys" & Indians" magazine!

Just saw it last night. I then watched the original. The two were very different. Some aspects of the remake were improvements on the orginal. But I thought they may have increased the violence a little too much. One thing for sure they certainly are not the same movie. Of course after glancing over the orginal Elmore Leonard short story I realized how different the orginal was as compared to the source material.
The score however was excellent. It certainly gave Ennio Morricone's western scores a run for their money. The score was composed by Marco Beltrami a man not known for very emotional, detailed scores. He hit this one out of the park, though. Clearly an oscar contender.

Well, not exactly a flop at over $14 million in total box office for the weekend, came in #1 I believe.... Good thing too, 'cause I love a good western and enjoyed this one even though one could nitpick to death.

I'm looking forward to the Jesse James flick comming out the end of the month too, even if Brad Pitt is in it...

I still haven't seen 3:10 to Yuma! Top of my list.

The Proposition operates on a different note than most westerns. I relate it more to Night of the Hunter than The Searchers, if you know what I mean. I still rank it high in the Western light. Higher than Unforgiven, Tombstone and other likewise returns to the Genre over the past couple decades.

Saw it tonight and liked it quite a bit, but just didn't buy the ending. Wonderful performances all around, though.

Now I have to see the original.
