This was advertised as 'WW2" on the bay, which I seriously doubt, but I bid anyway, got it for $50, EXCELLENT condition in every respect, but as to the actual vintage..any opinions? Brand is KERKHOFF from Holland

Some of us pay a lot of money, wait for month and need years to break in their jackets.........

You just snap a perfect from the bay. Congratulation, really nice jacket with a lot of character.

Thanks for sharing, Doctor!

Lovely score Dr Greg.

But surely that's going to be far too hot to wear up your way? How's about sending it down to Victoria where it'll get some real use :D

Gorgeous jacket in excellent condition! Congratulations. Judging by the front and back yoke I would say the jacket dates from the mid 50s to early 60s, but I could be wrong and the jacket was made during WWII.

That's where it came from, ya gotta get up early!........ but I do some travelling out on the high plains west of here, and it's known to snow occasionally out there....so it will move into the queue with the other 9 or so of similar quality:D

Nice jacket Dr Greg. These jackets were also worn by the former "Rijkspolitie" (Gouvernment Police) and the City police of various cities in The Netherlands. Though there were lots of variations and makers, Kerkhoff is certainly one of them. The company doesn't exist anymore. Jackets like these (with variations of hand warmer pockets, epaulets, interiors) were used from the beginning in the early 10's and 20's (when motorcycles were introduced) trought the mid 90's... The jacket you bought looks like a 40's - 50's to me. In those days uniforms and leather jackets (and breeches!) were ordered locally. On occasion these jackets are for sale on Dutch Marketplace.
Here some pics... When police still looked like police...;)

Cool pics Andy. So the jacket could also be a late wartime sample. As you said "When policemen still looked like policemen...". For obvious reasons 60s and 70s german uniforms were among the ugliest in the world
