Schitz, I would imagine that your Cropduster is close to the same weight as my FQHH Teamster with 28.5" back and 27.5" sleeves. If I had accurate scales available, I would be able to give you a precise number. Unfortunately, I only have bathroom scales that are notoriously inaccurate. Subtracting my weight without Teamster from with Teamster, I come up with 6 lbs (2.7 kg). Since my Teamster is size 42 and your slightly shorter Cropduster is size 38, I am going to guess your Cropduster is 2.5 kg. FINAL ESTIMATE: 2.5 KG.

NICE .... looks like a cool colour. It's an interesting colour Cordovan and can be anything from almost black to tanish / redish brown ! I had a Cordovan FQHH Aero Highwayman which was a really dark reddish brown which used to bleed dark red pigment when I rubbed against anything - I got rid of it for that very reason ( would rub off on my jeans and trousers ... car seats ... walls .. you name it !), yet neither my brown FQHH nor black ever gave any issues at all. Something to bear in mind although I have a Burgundy CXL Lavant and it seems much better.

Cool fit .. much neater than I could bear .. but suits you to a tee. Wear it well.

Cheers

Cracking jacket Schitz and it looks even better with dark jeans and leather shoes:) It does have real period look about it and the fit is spot on. The weight is a tricky one because its a longer style but trim fitting. I'd have a stab at 2.6 kg, 5.73 lbs, 91.71oz, or 0.409 stones :)

WOW - great color and great fit - seems that only slender poeple like you can wear a halfbelt back - and yes it looks vintage and the pockets gives it a face ...
Weight? - I would guess 2,73 Kg . . . !?
And the winner is . . . . . . . . . . . . . . !!

You by 10 (ten) grams!! Cooperson I'm afraid your 70 gram margin of error is only good enough for second place. Windward, clearly you are our resident FQHH expert and I salute you sir. The actual weight is 2.67kg, and yes I have checked that 3 times to make sure

WDW, Dav and Fanch also those were very good guesses, but Bretron wtf was that!? Even if I had two of them they still wouldn't weigh 12 pounds!! haha

Reason I was curious to ask you aerophiles is that when I put it on it doesn't feel heavy, or like it will need very much break in, if any at all. Turns out this jacket is lighter than the brown FQHH HB I had previously and also that brown Hercules by more than 20%. Is the brown FQHH heavier or have I simply got some thinner Cordovan for this jacket?

Anyway it isn't a criticism, just an observation. I think the leather on this jacket is lovely and that it feels quite comfortable from the outset is a pleasant surprise. Re this model, aero recommends the tumbled hides - which are obviously less stiff - which makes me wonder if possibly with that consideration in mind the thinnest cordovan hides available were sought out? If so then that is a really great touch, or perhaps it is just a happy accident. Either way I'm very pleased with the outcome

When did you buy those heavier jackets? As I recall, excess weight was an indicator of "storse" being passed off as FQHH. If it's not a big difference in weight, could just be natural variation, as happens with organic substances.

the herc at the start of this year (i think, or very near to). And also, the HB was confirmed as FQHH by the current regime

and here's that shot of the brown tweed lining

Afraid I don't have anything insightful to say here.. it doesn't seem overly thick nor too thin. Perhaps once I start wearing it I'll have something useful to contribute

Must just be organic variation, then. I've known it to happe with leather. Wood too.... (amazing how different two supposedly identical guitars can sound, all down to a different tree).

Tweed lining looks great. I'm considering it for my next, just wary about how warm it might be.

I like the lining Schitzo, suits that cordovan a treat!
My observation of the Tweed is that it's quite warm, although some of that may be the fact that I'm wearing it in a longer jacket so there's more of it, not sure how it compares to the Tartans though,as I don't have that in a jacket.

Thanks for the picture of the lining, the tweed looks nice with that fishbone motif. Also looks seriously warm compared to the light tartan in my halfbelt deluxe. And I was totally off with the weight, thought it would be a lot heavier. My jacket is in europe and I'm currently in Asia so have no way to check but mine feels a lot heavier. And it was also purchased after the regime change so no chance of it being 4 oz storse leather.

Again, congratulations, it looks really good on you, enjoy!

Schitz, I was probably closer than I thought since my estimate of the weight of my teamster was 2.7 kg, and that was just a rough estimate at best, based on bathroom scales. Maybe I shouldn't have subtracted 0.2 kg from the weight of my Teamster but only 0.02 kg instead. [huh] :D Although I didn't weigh my black vintage FQHH Highwayman, the black vintage FQHH definitely "feels" heavier than the brown FQHH of my Teamster. In any case, my preference is definitely lighter/thinner FQHH, which seems to apply to your new Cropduster. BTW, I really like the tweed but think it would probably be too warm for N Texas.

Love the lining, they says (besides sheepskin) that Alpaca is warmest, however I wonder how much warmer the Alpaca is against the Tweed. Seems to me now there are only two seasons in UK cold and hot ie leather and non leatherwearable weather. Although I am going for a Bronco with silk lining I don't see it getting near as much wear as a jacket with Alpaca or Tweed lining.
