I just received another Champ, and Open Road style Featherweight. I've been on the lookout for one of these for awhile (inspired by Douglas!) and finally snagged one. Of course it is VERY similar to a Resistol I recently acquired......but I would say the felt on the Champ is of lesser quality, not being as soft or as pliable as the Resistol. I'm not saying the Champ is not nice (it is).....just not quite as nice as the Resistol. I am also posting some pics of a recent Custom hat I received (it is a GH hat, so please let's not discuss anything about it's origin). I really tossed and turned on what kind of finished look I wanted. I finally got a "vision" of what I would like......and this is the finished product.

Love that super light featherweight Champ felt.
Unusual wide brim, too. I'm jealous.

As to the GH hat- it looks good. I don't understand
why GH hat wearers don't take up the debate. Is the
finish good on this one? Show detail proudly. Is the
sweat sewn on nicely? Let's see a closeup. Do they
hold up in the rain? Of course there will always be
questions about the "private felter" and his prices compared
to others, but if it's worth it to you, I'd love for you to
make the case. I'm not teasing here, I'm serious. Since I
have never held one in my hand and don't anticipate doing so,
I can only go on what I've seen here and at some other sites.

Feltfan, I'll try to get some good close up shots of my GH hat for everyone to see. Personally I am very pleased with it. I guess I am a little "gunshy" about posting anything here in regards to GH because I know it tends to stir up a hornets nest......and I REALLY am not interested in being involved with that....from EITHER side.

.....but I agree, I should post some pics more and let everyone make their own judgements.

It's not the posting of his hats. If you like his hats great. He's just been a very very big problem to this and many boards in the way he treats posters and customers and fellow business owners.

it is a rule that you can not put a link in your sig line and get free advertisement...and that is now being strictly enforced...

i understand it to be a rule that no mention of "&%" hats or name are to be on this forum and yet they are permitted to exist.

My apologies to Spiridon and Matt Deckard- I didn't mean
to stir up any problems. I genuinely want to see the hat
(I am a hat junkie) and I genuinely want Spiridon to feel
comfortable posting his hat without caveat. I can't speak
to the hatter (I don't know him or his product well), but
Spiridon seems to me a nice guy.

Even if he owns the homburg of my dreams.

Anyway, Spiridon, looking forward to seeing any
hats you (or anyone) want to post. I hope we
can enjoy the hat and put aside the history for now.
There's been enough controversy lately.

We Banned Gladhatter for a very good reason. We didn't ban the wearers of his hats though they tend to have a fervor when it comes to promoting the man. I can't trust him and want that to be well known. He has made many personal attacks and has caused trouble to many companies and members of several forums.

I could take out all the gladhatter references from the thread and still may.

Any mention of GH is promotion of him and his wears. We can delete reference everytime we see his name or hat, though in doing so we can also alienate members and hurt the idea of this being a fair place to talk about hats. I want this to be a fair place to talk about hats. There is one person who wore out the fairness of this place. and that is GH

For future reference... No more GH hats and or references to the man.

He is a bad seed and was banned for a reason.
