I have kin in Athens Alabama and was just over there in July, my folks were from the Round Island area around Browns Ferry there in Athens.

RBH,

I used to do some work for some good folks in the Athens area (but have yet to visit the city). It's beautiful in north Alabama, and I love it when I have the chance to see all the hills and trees and cliffs (it's pretty flat around here).

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

A cheer for Michigan

Dean,

I guess I'm an honorary son (actually, son-in-law) of Michigan, since my wife's from a small town 45 minutes nw of Detroit. Good to know my thin ribbon will be welcome there, too!

Simon, we live in a small town 45 mninutes NW of Detroit called Fenton. Has your wife heard of it? It's between Holly and Linden right off US 23. Nice to hear from you. So you like thin ribbons, eh? I just wore my Open Road shopping with my wife today. Looked good, I can honestly say, without a hint of conceit. I bough a $10 sewing machine today at Target. It was half off! If it works the way I think it will, the bound edge may very soon accompany my thin ribbon efforts! The Brotherhood of The Thin Ribbon says: "If you want it, add it! You can do it!"

The Open Road to Fenton

Dean,

Yup, my wife knows Fenton well, as she's from right down the road in Highland. On our way to our honeymoon on Mackinac Island, we stopped for lunch in Holly -- talk about a town lost in time. It's the perfect place to sport those vintage and vintage looking hats.
