19th century Vaquero Jackets?

I enjoy Victorian era western/steampunk wear. I've looked all over the web for a vaquero jacket that is NOT this "Frontier Classic" one that's everywhere. It's a little cheesy in construction for my tastes and doesn't fit well, though the muted quality works. I'm looking for something in muted, preferably brown or black color, letting the only bling be concho buttons. I prefer not to look like I'm a waiter at a Mexican restaurant, but rather someone who would have dressed for riding out west. Exhausted searches include Spanish Riding Jacket, Bolero, Mariachi and Charro jackets. Dull leather would work for me too.

Wow, an interesting request. I'll throw out two possibilities.

Below is a Dsquared "civil war western" jacket from their 2010 collection.

Or check with the guys at filmjackets.com about reproing this Lancer/Cavalry jacket, worn by Ben Foster as the sexually ambiguous sidekick to Russell Crowe's outlaw chieftain in "3:10 to Yuma."

In the extras for the DVD, the costume designer talks about how she wanted each character to have a color theme running through their horse/clothes/face. In this case, the character is a blonde guy on a pale horse wearing a tan jacket. BTW, note the S&W Schofield Breaktop revolver-- an underappreciated competitor to the Colt Single Action Army.

You might try searching for an Argentinian "carpincho" jacket, made from capybara. It's beautiful, and fairly tough suede-finished leather, and comes in gaucho/vaquero styles often. Your other option is a tailor-made Mexican charro jacket. My grandfather had several of both styles, and they looked very authentic, especially in the saddle. Of course, he could have made sweat pants look western, as he was a dyed-in-the-wool old school cowboy. I had a short, suede-outside, sheepskin fleece riding jacket from Mexico when I was younger, and it was also pretty cool. You can always have them add the conchos, or DIY. Good luck, Frank.
