For Sale:

(In So. California) 1946 Special Deluxe P-15 four door.

This car I've owned since 2004, have enjoyed it as a daily driver for many years. Car does start and drive! Currently registered and insured! Has received a re-paint of original color in 2007, and still looks nice. Has a few small chips in the rear fender, can be fixed. Rear bumper could use re-chrome, stainless looks nice. All glass is 100% original and in fine shape! No separating, no bubbles or dis-colorization.

Car rolls on it's original 16" rims, the black wall tires are needing to be replaced, however have a few miles left on'em. Motor could use some attention and the electrical needs some work. Car comes with original 801 Philco radio, dash is complete and retains it's wood grain. Instrument cluster works except for gas gauge. Original Comfort Master heater works great! Upholstery is in fair shape, headliner is perfect! Was all replaced in 2003. Original door handles and window cranks. Could use a new glove box.

They are eminently drivable in every day traffic, and roadside repairs can be carried out with a bent spoon and a bit of twine (okay that last bit about the spoon isn't true, but they are cheap as chips to keep in roadworthy condition), and nothing beats a big, 40s, four door sedan for a cross country vacation. If you can't afford the $39,500 I'm asking for my '51 Bentley, you should definitely consider this '46 Plymouth as a viable alternative, and a great EPW car from the Golden Era.

Shipping is not bad...to OK it would be around $700-1200 depending on the company & depending on shipping open or enclosed..

I shipped my prewar Plymouth from PA to So. Cal in '08, when gas was around the $3 mark & I paid $1100....so its definately feesable for a fun car to drive in! Trust me, I know from the '46 & my '37!

You're welcome, but in my opinion, unless you are trading up to another Golden Era car (like my Bentley?) you are nuts to sell your Plymouth. When the economy turns around prices for these cars will only escalate...

What a great car. These will run forever. Just sold my 49 Plymouth with 69k miles running like a kitten, that I had since 1966. Much easier to maintain than the Bentley, and a classic.---John

I sure read that wrong, didn't I? sheesh....container shipping can range from about $1500-3000 overseas, which is not as bad as most people think it is...

I have a '48 Plymouth and can attest to the desirability of the early post-war cars. Although I don't know Forgotten Man personally, from what I've read here on the Fedora Lounge for a number of years I believe it would be very safe to say that he has taken excellent care of his Plymouth. The price of $6500 is very reasonable for such a fine car.


Good luck on your sale, and good good luck on your hopeful acquisition of the pre-war Dodge you are wanting.

Thanks Big Man, I've taken care of the car to a point, it is now safely in a garage which makes me happy, the motor does need some attention, however it does start fine and does drive. Electrical has an issue, such as the light switch needs to be replaced.

Anyway, it's a good foundation to start with, it's not "far" from daily service.

Oh, so tempting. I've been obsessed with 41 Buicks for ages. But I've also checked out those late 40's Chrysler products. Nice cars and at a great price. Please, more about the Dodge. What year is it? When I was very small my grandfather had a 39 Dodge. I have a very nice picture of it from about 1951.

I've a '46 Plymouth 4DSD my self, and love the old girl. Were I to live in sunny Southern California or some where else that snow and ROAD SALT are mere theories, I would sell my old Jeep, buy a late '40s pickup and drive my '46 Plymouth every day. Unless one is addicted to speed, one would do well to get such a car. Unless it's raining or a strong likelihood for rain, I drive my Plymouth every day every where from Memorial Day to Labour Day.
