I'm posting this info in a couple places in case anyone's interested in this reference.

This is something I purchased 10-20 years ago. Don't ask me where I got it, because I don't remember, but I'm guessing it was a charity rummage sale. I am specifically listing it for a reference for RetroBabydoll who asked about beaded and pearled snoods. Pictures intentionally left large in case some crafty person wants to duplicate the pattern.

So here you go-

1940's Woman's Faux Snood/Hat, Part II

Here is another 1940's Woman's Snood/Hat I found. The ties are probably meant to go under a woman's hair, and the brass embellishments held plastic discs, most of which are broken. If you carefully look at the third photo right side, you can still see a complete disc.

I have one of these somewhere. Mine is an ivory color & no where near as fancy as your black though.

Thanks VB, I never had an idea what those were called.

I believe they are called: "More things women need to buy in order to be fashionable"

Ooohhh, I'd love to see it when you find it! Feel free to add it to this thread for reference for others. :)

I found it--but my camera batteries are charging at the moment. Mine has the same label yours has, but it has a couple moth holes though. :eusa_doh:

ETA: While looking for this one, I came across another hat I've had for ages & never paid attention to--it is the most darling thing I've ever seen. It is black velvet with rhinestone starbursts all over it & it fits on the back of your head & it has these 2 little wings in front that stick out & look like cat's ears. I think I'm in love--and I never noticed it before!

ETA: It is marked "Ere Nouvelle New York Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." on one label and "A Pollyanna Hat Cincinnati" on the other.

Oooo! I just finished making some snoods for my Orthodox Jewish friend - if anyone did want to copy the sewn one, I do have instructions that can be scanned and sent (we made it up, so no copyright issues!)

They are very easy to make, in fact I have assorted linen ones for my 17th century Living History persona made to the same pattern...

How wonderful!

Kishtu, dear, want to post the pattern in this thread for download? I'm sure there are people who would appreciate it. PM me if you need me to host the downloaded doc for you.
