1940s Smoking Stand / Night Light

I've always wanted the plane as I've seen it in different versions over the years.

Have you tried just some 0000 steel wool? Does wonders on pitted chrome.

Yes I have tried the steel wool approach on this stand - it worked on the plane a little. Sadly the chrome just flaked off in other areas, especially on the fluted tubes that make up most of the centre.

Have you considered having it replated? It's such an outrageously great smoking stand that it would be worth the cost (not as much as you might think) to have it looking as pristine as it did back in the day.
