You don't see this every day. A coup for the colossal cranium.
Please let the guys with the big heads go first here. Yes, it is
tagged at 7 3/4 under the sweatband.

I'd say it's late 40s or early 50s. You can decide for yourself.
Big crown (no kidding), brim is at least 2 3/4". Dark brown.

This hat has seen some wear, but sadly not from me- couldn't
get it to fit and I'd rather it go to someone with a big head than
add padding, etc.

Here's a first picture, then I'll say more:

The felt is surprisingly thin and seems to have next to no
stiffener in it. In fact, it's pretty floppy and would probably
benefit from a reblock. On the other hand, it is very versatile:

I did all those by hand in a few seconds. Didn't steam them in.
Still interested? I think there is a limit on the number of pictures you
can put in a single post, so I'll make the rest links for those interested.

The sweatband is extremely soft. I think it's what people mean when
they say roan. It looks beat up, but is very servicable and you might
find it your most comfortable.

No lining. No idea if it had one. With this thin felt, maybe not,
but there is no sticker on the roof of the crown, either.

The ribbon needs one stitch to put it back in place. Otherwise it's
in pretty good shape. Some water (?) staining on the brim binding
that would probably come out with the clean and block. It's an old
hat someone loved and you might, too.

I'm asking $125 plus $12 shipping (CONUS). It wouldn't break my heart not
to sell this hat, but it would make me happy if someone who has been
looking for a wide brimmed vintage in an unusual size got it. BTW,
I will pack carefully and no returns (I hate going to the post office).

Really? No interest from guys with 7 3/4 heads?
I'm very surprised. This is an extremely unusual hat-
thin felt, wide brim, big crown, in a nearly impossible size.

Good morning, FF, may I send you a pm about this hat? I do not have 15 posts and would like to ask first. Thank you, RT

Oh, believe me, I have tons of interest! The only thing stopping me from proceeding right now is the cost. It's a different economy right now, and the value of everything is lower than what most are used to. I've been disappointed by the last two hats I listed on eBay, one of which was a 7 5/8 Stetson Whippet for under $90. It was even restored fully by Optimo. I took a big hit there.

It looks great and I'd snap it up myself, but I've got an Art Fawcett that fills almost that exact niche and I'm trying to stop collecting stuff I already have. Good luck though, it is quite a lid.

Thanks- I guess there IS interest

I am awaiting payment from a member for this hat.
If for some reason he changes his mind, I'll be in touch, rtravler.
Meanwhile I recommend you post responses to a few topics
anywhere in the Lounge and get your post count high enough
to use PM. Otherwise one of us will have to post an email address.

Thank you, FF. Pm me and I will go comment on all sorts of things.
If I understand the system correctly, I can't PM you,
either, until you have posted enough. I just looked and
it's not an option.

Did you list that one here, and I missed it?

I have a little trouble keep up with the hat listings at eBay, and I'll bet I'm not the only one.
