In answer to the original post I would say not a film a BBC drama called The best of Men,

"Entertaining drama about the birth of the Paralympics in 1948. The remarkable Dr Guttmann comes to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and begins to tranform the lives of his patients. They are paralysed soldiers, written off and facing death from neglect. Their big breakthrough comes when Guttmann introduces sport into their rehabilitation.

There really two stories going on at the same time a) about the Paralympics b) also about the socal attitudes at the time.
very moving and thought provoking.

Not a film, but I really enjoyed the BBC Series Wartime Farm. Period aficionados might have to cut the presenters a bit of slack -- Ruth Goodman's clothing seems a bit off, and there have been some complaints about the exact date of the tractors -- but it does what it sets out to do and I learned a tremendous amount.

Yes she had a strange colour of seamed stocking on which did not look like cotton more like nylon, thanks for remining me lol, I also did enjoy it BTW .
