Check out this cool BSA jacket I bought myself for Father's Day. I am an Eagle Scout (1973) and current Scoutmaster. Both sons are Eagles as well.

Our troop is having its 75th annversary next year. We are planning a big party/celebration/reunion to make this milestone.

As a part of this, I am assembling a 1940 Scoutmaster uniform to wear for this and then other events. I have this jacket as well as separate cotton and wool uniform sets to wear.

Back in the 40's and 50's, a well dressed Scouter could get jackets like this one to wear for dress events.

Quick question for you union label experts - Can I date this jacket to a specific year based on this label?

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Those UGWofA labels remained basically unchanged from the 1920s through until the 1990s, so it won't be of much help in dating it.

The seal used on the “Official Uniform” label dates this between 1954 and 1967. The fact that this leaders coat is a four button with the New Brunswick address narrows the dates down to 1954 to 1959. This is an outstanding coat, but since it isn’t the 1940s era you are seeking, how much do you want for it? :)

A classic piece of nostalgia!
Next the red wool with the black bull
Philmont jacket. I had one back in the day.
Also an eagle badge. I was pretty proud of that,
especially passing the Life Saving merit badge.
It was the make or break for most.
