Hi Michaelson, I signed up to post on that forum for Indiana Jones hats. I got an email stating I would get another one later but I never got it. I have tried to log in with what they sent me in first email but it does not allow it.

I do not particularly want a homburg or an Indiana Jones hat exactly, but I would like a good hat.

I got home from camping and found a note offering me a beaver hat if I would not post any more on this forum at all but I think I will pass that offer.

I will ask everyone here straight up if they are just laughing at me as I am informed from a person that could not possibly know. If I stick out like a freak here then some one please let me know it. Otherwise I hope to continue to post here and learn and teach if I know any thing.

Can you tell me what I need to do to log into the Indiana Jones forum , Michaelson?

Hi Zane! I't's up to the webmaster to activate your account, and that's not me. I do know he's been AWFULLY busy lately, and probably hasn't gotten around to the account activations recently, but I'm sure it will happen in due time. You can still log in as a guest and see read the hats discussions by going to
http://www.indygear.com/forum
At least that will keep you 'informed' as to what is being kicked around on a daily basis.
A beaver hat for staying away, eh? I'm never offered stuff like that! It's usually a sharp stick in the eye, or some such thing:( ;) Regards. Michaelson

Hi Michaelson, and thank you for your very quick and courteous reply. I do try to read from all the forums I can get to daily including the one you folks call COW. I find it fascinating to se so many hat lovers and so many people needing an answer to some times a simple question. I find more novice folks seem to have more concerns on the COW forum and I think I could be a valuable asset to answering their questions quite often.

Regardless it is a true pleasure to have a gentleman of your southern stature to post or be involved with in discussion or in any capacity on any forum.

I sure think many folks could take some lessons in manners from Folks like your self, Fedora, Art and Zohar. That is not saying all are not nice people but the lot of you seem to have a refined excellence in your mannerisms and speech. I find it refreshing to know both city folks and Country folk alike are just plain fine people and it makes me to wonder if I could have made a life in the city had I attempted it when I was drawn to do so in my youth.

Well for now that shall remain an unanswered question as I am so devoted to spending my golden years in learning to speak and write better and finding simple things like math a challenge as well. I do not ever expect to become a rocket scientist but have to pat my self on the back when some one compares my slothfulness of the past to my current more refined learned self.

I said that to clear up the beaver hat offer. My past employer whom I still love so much left me a note asking me to leave him out of my post if I did not care to use some of the learning I had told him I had gotten since we last parted some many years ago. I do not think he was making a serious offering of any hat nor would he insult me with such (I hope) but was only trying to make a valid point that these forums are really for serious minded people and not to be playing around with them.

I will appreciate his hopeful intended meaning and try to become a valued member of this and all forums I attend and try to prescreen all my future postings for appropriate content and grammar and usefulness as well as clarity and purpose.

I hope this will set better with him and with all that may choose to read after me as I really just seek a harmonious life and hope to have much to give and continue to have little need.

Zane, you live in Eastern Kentucky. I KNOW from personal experience and observation that someone from THAT neck of the woods can make it ANYWHERE in the WORLD! So, consider that question answered. Period.:)

Folks are folks everywhere you go. The reason you're finding decent folks around sites like this one is that they long for the past times where folks WERE civil to each other in public. Sure, they probably say things behind closed doors (didn't your family back when you were growing up? I know MINE did.;) ), but in public, everyone was polite, cordial, and exchanged thoughts directly, but mindful of the other's feelings. You'll find that here.

Thank you for your kind remarks too.

If your old employer gets a wild hair to send out a beaver hat for not mentioning him at a forum, tell him to consider me as a possible recepient. I promise I'll never mention him again, WHOEVER he is. (grins)

High regards. Michaelson

Michaelson, I flat out missed your post here but it was pointed out to me by the hat giver him self. I know exactly what youa re saying and how civil folks are and this is a wonderful place. I expect a great many talk aout me behind closed doors and many probably wil not ever speak at all just like growing up we had good neighbrs and bad ones.

I was not pointed to this post to just read it but was told explicitly, that you were owed more than any apology by my former boss. He further added that if you will kindly send me or him your shipping address, he will promptly send you a sterling beaver hat body to do as you please with and no strings attached. Mention him or not he says it is least he can do. You please PM me with your address and I will pass it along. The only concern is if you wear any thing but brown or if you prefer a brown hat.
