I suppose we should consolidate these somehow instead of spreading them thru separate threads.... but anyway. Here are the 2 pages of hats (there were over 12 pages of womens) from a Charles William 1928 catalog.

Thanks for posting those, as that time period is so appropriate. 1928 - a year before the market collapse began, optimism ruled. Corresponds to 1998-1999, before the dot-com collapse, and 2006, before the more recent peak in October 2007. Was this prior to popularity of Tom Mix? Curious, as that hat style (the westerns, tall gus crowns with full kettle curl brims) is often associated with Tom Mix.

The 1920's was the peak of Tom Mix career but the hats have more of the Tom Horn crease( both were quite tall and near conical with dent(s) in the front.

Wierd weave - does not appear to be llano nor brisa, doesn't seem to fit with the Ecuador straws. Did 'panama' become a generic name for all straws?
