great photos Patrick, thanks. i particularly like the first one; it's amazing just how popular boots were for the average man in the 20s.

At least in Germany lace-up boots seemed to be the standard shoes. Normal shoes are still called "Halbschuhe" in German, meaning "half shoes". Ankle boots/lace-up boots were regarded as proper shoes and thus called "Schuhe". The word "Stiefel" (i.e. boots) was used for the higher boots.

Good to see my scans in action. I recently acquired an "Åhlén & Holm" (my most common catalogue) from – I think – winter 1922. Let me know if I should scan the menswear. It has some great variety and early 20's two button jackets.

Yes. Please post some scans. I haven't found much menswear related catalogs in a while (but found almost 100 sewing magazines for my girlfriend last week)

I've scanned the tailoring pages of my catalogue. It's from 1922-3. I do have another one from 1928. They are both +200 pages. You can learn a lot by reading them. They have a lot of everything, with some good descriptions. However this early catalogue is does not contain as much MTM-tailoring as the later ones that I have do.

I'll have to edit the other 20's catalogue before I post it.

I just got it in the mail today and have yet to take any pictures but I found a jazz suit tux and not just the jacket. It looks like it has never been worn and fits me perfectly. The fellow who bought it originally was a little bit off on his style as it is dated November 17th 1923. Someone should have told him he's off by about 3-4 years! I am very pleased though and i'all be posting pictures as soon as I can. I'm really very pleased and it is made out of the softest black felt I have run across.

I went to the opening of a clothing exhibition of womens clothing from the 1920s and 30s and decided it was a good excuse to wear my early 20s 3-piece suit by Hart Shaffner Marx. I see that herringbonekid posted the ad for the same suit i have dated 1920. I have to lose a few more pounds to have it fit perfectly but i did my best.

I found this suit at the bottom of a basket of clothing at a flea market, it was in very rough shape (still is) but i managed to restore it to wearable condition.

And as a reminder the damage was all present when I bought it, the only thing i didn't photograph was the repair i did to sew up a large rip up the ass of the trousers

Very iconic item... the famous blue serge suit.
The damage to the liner should be repairable without much effort.

That is a great suit! I've been wanting to try to get something like it made (early 20's Hart Schafer Marx). Mind posting some more photos of it being worn that offer a better look at the cut?

Thanks!
