yes, i should have thought that this will realise quite a sum, but I've been tricked by larger sized stuff before, not selling for the price a size 38-40 suit would. Not enough of a market, I guess.
Is it my eyes, or the lighting, but the pants look to be a different shade than the jacket?
There also seems to be a distracting amount of fading.
The seller mentions, "Both pieces have the natural variations in shade that Palm Beach cloth has."
I wonder what the reserve is.
Question: This auction says current bid $50. So I put in $55, and it came back saying the reserve was not met, and the bid stayed at $50. Then I put in successively $65, $75, $85 and $95. Each time it said reserve not met, and left the current bid at $50. Is that right?
The Palm Beach company had a lot of problems with knockoffs, so their label designs were always prominent in their ads. They advertised heavily, so there is a pretty continuous timeline of these logos. They switched away from this particular logo c.1918.
That said, we do know how earlier labels have a tendency of popping up in later suits, especially with something like a fabric label.
