Great stuff! Pity I didn't have my drool cup at hand - I needed to get me a new keyboard...

I have to say that I'm amazed to see quite a few telescope crowns/porkpies in the crowd. For some reason I always thought that they became popular much later.

So here's another rule of thumb for wearing hats in public: whenever you're attending a ball game, make sure that you turn your tall diamond, teardrop or center dent into a low telescope, allowing the people behind you to watch the game too!

I go to a lot of Mariners games, and I have never seen a felt fedora widebrim at a game, other than mine. I have seen a few nice widebrim Panamas on very hot days.

And at soccer games - everyone stands here in Seattle, so no concerns.

On a historic note the crowd in the picture is watching a simulation of one of the games of the World Series. Back in the days before radio and television, crowds would gather in front of the local newspaper office or Western Union where the game would be "broadcast" via telegraph and the results posted on a scoreboard. Note the signboard with the baseball diamond in the upper left hand side of the pic where the positions of the men on base were posted.

Well-said. It also makes me wonder about those hats that we call '1920s'. While we've nailed down most decades, some of the ones classified as '20s' might perhaps be a bit older? For instance, with Stetsons, what would a sweatband or liner logo look like for a FEDORA such as the ones pictured, that's from 1912?

I would love to seem some examples.
