I was looking for a Bob's in Glendale today; no longer there. My sister worked for the original Bob's over on Colorado in the '60s.

There's a Bob's here:

Burbank, CA 91505

here:

8274 Sunland Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 91352

here:
8876 Corbin Ave

(818) 772-2627

here:

899 E Del Mar Blvd
Pasadena, CA 91101

and here:

7447 Firestone Blvd
Downey, CA 90241

^^I've been to the one in Burbank, rue, an original. It has old car night every Friday, if I recall correctly.

That's what I heard. It's been a long time since I've been back, but it's nice to know some things are staying the way they were or are being brought back :)

My mom met met my dad at the one in Arcadia. If it wasn't for Bob's, I might never have been born.

Yes, the peacocks are still here. I had one on my roof here in Monrovia not that long ago. They have been hauled back from as far as LaVerne!
One Christmas a friend of ours actually trapped and cooked one. I have to say~after the fact, it was delicious.

I am going to the track tomorrow with my family. They took out the synthetic surface because many horses were being injured. Now it is back to dirt. The track reopened for the season on Sunday.

Just wanted to say that as I was going to the farmer's market for menudo yesterday, I passed a Winchell's on Los Robles and Orange Grove in Pasadena. They are still in the San Gabriel Valley, though few and far between.

Lost Golden Era Restaurants and Bars

My friend Peter Moruzzi has started a new blog entitled “Peter Moruzzi’s America After Dark”. There he explores some of the fantastic (and mostly lost now) Golden Era restaurants and bars. Peter has an amazing collection of photographs, menus and ephemera to document those places. Some of them I’ve never even heard of, such as the wild “Dome of the Sea” at the late Las Vegas Dunes casino.

Here’s a postcard of the Dome - pretty fantastic!

Anyway, please take a look: www.petermoruzzi.com

Peter is an architectural historian and has published two books: “Havana before Castro” and “Palm Springs Holiday”. Both of which deal with the primarily post-WWII era.
