“Well, now you have met the owner of Schott . . .”

My wife tried on her new jacket last night -- I suggested shortening the sleeves, but she likes them long.

Absolutely complements the Hello Kitty PJs. Seriously, though, a lot of women are wearing cheap Chinese and other knock-offs of the motorcycle jacket
style these days. Clothes made to be discarded after a few months, from leather made from heaven knows which animal. It's nice to see a woman wearing the real thing.

I've seen quite a few positive reviews of Schott on here. Not sure I know what he's on about. I'm personally indifferent to Schott. I won't be buying one, but I did recommend one of their car coats to my brother.

Superfluous, you're to be commended on your hot wife! She's quite the beauty!
It's an interesting anecdote, and I am puzzled as to why the guy thinks that FL is for Schott 'haters'.
Like others, I own a Schott Peacoat, and find it to be a fairly good coat. I must say that ordering it was (even in consultation with Schott over sizing) a nightmare of returning over-sized coats, and ordering down 2 sizes.
I might be persuaded to buy a Schott if I tried on a jacket in a store and liked it, but I think that they have issues about their size/labeling system.
I am personally put off by the modern hardware, although others should not be.

I think that Schott fills a gap in the market; they are the height of store, off-the-peg leather 'retro' jackets. The kind of people who feel that buying a Schott is buying a 'luxury' jacket may never move on to 1000 USD made-to-measure repros (although they might), and they don't care about the details on Schotts Perfecto that make some people here think that Brando never wore a Schott. And there's nothing really wrong with that. After all, we can't be the kind of society that tells people how much they should care about how they spend their money. No one except a handful of nerds even know what they are looking at and talking about when the issue of the Durable jacket comes up. And although I care about it, Joe Average shouldn't have to.

Maybe Schott is to leather jackets what Levis 501s are to vintage jeans? I buy modern 501s for the image and the style, and I know that they're not 100% the same as 50s Levis, but I can't be bothered to get into a vintage/repro denim addiction- I've got enough going on.

I think that Schott is for people who want to capture that 'image' rather than the details. That's fine.

Don't think that I'm a snob, I've been buying ratty G-1 jackets for a hundred bucks with misaligned pockets, I don't give a cr*p.

Monitor, that's a sweet Cafe Racer! Love the color of that lining!

I totally get that. I think I may be a image rather than details guy. I like the distinction.

Jacket looks good on her Superfluous, not so sure about the Hello Kitty sweatpants. Perhaps if she acccesorised with a pair of Crocs ? :)

Schitzo owns that style.
Only he can pull it, anywhere, under any circumstances and all kinds of weather, while walking his dog, at a fancy diner and why not at the New Year's Eve party.
That and a shrinking leather jacket.
Something I'm sure is not part of Schott current catalog (or any brand I know).

That's... Really well said!

Schott needs a dedicated made-to-measure division at the factory. Maybe this would only apply to the top quality Schott jackets like the 141. I actually think Schott quality is second to none. The naked cowhide is my favorite leather ever. But I value fit and Schotts don't fit me well. For this reason they are off my radar. Offer MTM and I am back on board.

Yes, they still do but they don't put much into it. I was hoping for an expansion of MTM, or a dedicated team that does this regularly and efficiently. As it is now, they charge an awful lot for any customization and you can wait and wait and wait. At one point, I was willing to spend the dollars, but they stopped taking orders. Streamlining things so that they work with a limited number of styles and three measurements (sleeves, length, and width of the body) would help things along.

My first A-2 was a Schott. Bought it around 1980. Great jacket. Extremely well made. And, very heavy. Wish I still had it. Gave it to my brother in law years ago.
But the A-2 was different from my more traditional ones. It reminded me of a "biker jacket". Nothing wrong with that!
