Greetings gents! Been a while since I posted. Everyone's been wearing some fine lids I must say!
Here's a couple from me.
Getting ready to go eat some bbq!
These don't exactly fit into the thread, but I wanted to post them anyway.
A couple friends and I on the way out to a swing...
Had the day off today, and it's quite warm here; so I was sporting the 1930's Dobbs 20 I picked up a few months ago, as it's the most light-weight hat I own. :)
Wearing the vintage Cavanagh I bought a few months ago to work today. Long, long night; glad it's over.
Oh, well; at least I get to dress the part these days. ;)
The only two variables that matter to me are,
Durability: how long it takes for the felt to develope holes, ect.
and
Denseness: how much water can the hat take before it starts losing shape.
If the hat lasts a long time, and I can go out in the rain I'm happy.
Hey fellas, just wearin' the old light grey beater that I made a few months ago. You'll have to excuse the rather bland expression, I just got off work and I'm dead tired.
Yeah, I just trimmed the brim and forgot to sand the edge afterward. :eusa_doh:
Not that it matters all that much, I think I may see about just ripping the sweat and ribbon off it and use them on another one that I can actually work with. At least it was a valuable learning experience as...
Well, I've been wearing a hat I just finished that I've been working on for the past few days. The brim is a LOT shorter than I'd like, due to a previous blocking gone awry. If it weren't for that I think it would be one of my favorite hats. [huh]

Honestly I don't know much about them either. The felt is extremely soft, and I'm fairly sure it was made when mercury was still in use. The liner is not satin, it's a linen I believe, and has no plastic on the top. The sweatband is light brown, about 2in wide, is unreeded, and has the...
Hey fellas, it's been a little while since I posted here.
Just wearing my '30s Society Club today.
I've got a few of old hats that don't fit, but I can't bring myself to rework them. I'd really like to be able to wear 'em though...[huh]
Just the beater Resistol again today. Good throw around hat; it's a little big and I've been meaning to reblock it. Maybe I'll get 'round to it one of these days...My friends all say the hat's too tall, but I like it. :)
Awesome hats everyone!! :eusa_clap
Carter, that pic is fantastic! Love it!
I'm wearin' the Cavanagh I bought a little less than a week ago.
Oh, I'm ready for a night out now. ;)
I love this hat! I've been wearing it everyday since I got it.
I got a really old, and REALLY grimey fedora off ebay this week. The felt, sweatband, and ribbon are still in decent shape, but the sweat is unreeded and I couldn't sew it back on if I remove it for cleaning. So I was curious if anyone knew of a way that I could get the majority of the dirt off...
You people are NOT helping my addiction! You're only making it worse! :D
Actually.......there's a couple of other old hats at the store that I really want to buy, both of them fit too. I don't remember the brand of the one, but the other's a brown Churchill beaver hat with the Cavanagh Edge...
