Hi, I finally got one that fits. I am not sure if it is "authentic", the label looks official, but it is a fine coat regardless. I wonder if you could help with its provenance and perhaps date. Thank you.
I just bought one on eBay, tagged M, and it’s way too big for my 1.75m 74kg frame. Available for resale to anyone quite a lot larger in UK for £20 plus shipping.
This was my favourite, a Benelli 650 Tornado. Later I had a bevel drive Ducati 900SS, before a couple of headbanging Japs, Suzuki RG500 and a Kawasaki Ninja, then reverted to my BMW habit, including my current R1200RT. You are a very brave man making that trip with the LeMans’ riding position!
My friend is tiny, so even a 39mm case is going to look like a highlander’s targe on her wrist; it will have to be one of the smallest ladies’ dress models, which one being just a matter of her preference. I will have to be very disciplined not to buy one for myself.
Thank you. My tendency is towards mechanical auto, otherwise it is just another quartz watch with an expensive sticker, and probably new as there is a good local dealer. A smaller dress design I think will be preferred.
Those Griffin helmets were good quality cool kit in the 1970s. Incredibly, I have seen several on eBay at £200 to £300, but I can’t imagine anyone actually wearing a forty year old helmet. Retro helmets do seem to be rather popular, the AGV Ago being particularly nice.
Being a sentimental old fool I am inclined to buy a watch with her name on it for a friend whose name is Tudor. What should I look for? New or vintage/used? Electronic or manual? Any advice gratefully received, thank you.
Diesels remain my favourite, a two to three year old Waykee being my current daily habitual wear. I also have a twelve year old pair from when they were still made in Italy which have just about reached a fashionable level of “distress”. Otherwise, Ben Sherman stretch and some very slim Superdry...
That is a seriously cute jacket, DGM, I must do a UK eBay trawl and spend some more money. Love the Captain America helmet too, although I would never personally be comfortable in an open-face.
I have a Beaufort Classic bought as new, and it really was, about a year ago. It doesn’t get rough country wear, the vegetable market is about as close as it gets to dirt, but it is warm, waterproof, stylish (subjectivity of course) and relatively civilised compared to waxed cotton motorcycle...
A great post. It has reminded me of a heavy Breton sweater I had in the 1980s. Trying to find an equivalent now I just get high street “fashion” look-alike brands, nothing like the genuine garment. Does anyone know of a source for the latter, preferably in UK?
Notwithstanding the essentially subjective aesthetics, if one actually rides in this style of jacket, doesn’t that buckle make a horrible mess of the tank?
My BMW Motorrad summer/fall jacket, probably for the last time this year. I love it for its lightness and style off the bike, but I do feel somewhat vulnerable when I am NOT wearing my hi-viz jacket.
