    House slippers

I love the LL Bean slippers, but they stopped shipping to California. I really want to try their leather-lined slippers. The sheepskin-lined are great, but the fleece inside wears out long before the slipper. I always wear mine with socks, too.

    Wesco Boot Thread.

I’m getting conflicting info about the use of the boot oil during the break in process. The oil bottle says to use it sparingly on any hotspots. I also read that they dip the boots in oil before they leave the factory. This indicates to me that you should use it pretty liberally to help soften...

    Is this Aero worth rescuing?

Thanks for the advice everyone! It seems like the consensus is to let it go :) The price of $200 seemed low considering it is horsehide, but it also sounds like it could be expensive and time consuming to fix. From the feel, it may have gotten wet at some point and then been dried improperly...

    Is this Aero worth rescuing?

I spotted this Aero in the wild recently. From afar, it looks like a gem with nice patina. The fit on me is good. Closer up, I spotted some worrisome areas. Does this look like structural damage to the horsehide?

    Wesco Boot Thread.

Starting the break in on my new Jobmasters. I had a pair of 7.5s that I tried to break in for a couple of years, but they were just too small. I’m sizing up to an 8 with these.

Am I looking for a leather jacket that doesn't exist? (Aka help a fella out)

Yes! I got a beautiful Comet from @ksozay a few years ago. It is another of my vintage finds that I have kept. Did I mention that I seem to have relatively long arms? I also prefer a little bit of extra length in my jacket arms and don’t mind them bunching up a little. I feel like a recipe for...

Am I looking for a leather jacket that doesn't exist? (Aka help a fella out)

You are making me feel better about graduating to custom made ;) I agree that it is worth the extra cost, when you know what specs you cannot find in an off the rack jacket. I plan to visit Langlitz next week on my trip to Portland…

Vintage Cal - It's changing my outlook on things

How late were they still using the Star Glove label? I thought they stopped in the late 1930s-early 1940s? I think my main zip is a replacement. The original zippers Star Glove were using were like the Crown on @Wildhorses jacket, right?

Am I looking for a leather jacket that doesn't exist? (Aka help a fella out)

Maybe I still haven’t found the ideal cafe racer? ;) One that fits my shoulders doesn’t taper to my waist. One that fits my waist is too narrow at the shoulders. Of course, I’ve only tried about three different cafe racers in used jackets. They seem pretty popular these days, so it is harder to...

Vintage Cal - It's changing my outlook on things

My Star Glove jacket is looking good a few years out from the lining replacement that Cal Leathers did. It is hard to believe these jackets are almost century old, and still going strong! It is one of my vintage jackets that I still love to wear. One of these days, I would like to find a belt...

Am I looking for a leather jacket that doesn't exist? (Aka help a fella out)

I second the suggestion to try out some affordable secondhand jackets to learn more about what you really like (or don’t) in a jacket. Much as I love cafe racers, they just don’t fit my body type (relatively broad shoulders and narrow waist) as well as a cross zip. I don’t think I could have...

    Langlitz boots question

I’m going to bring these with me up to Wesco in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, I can work out a rebuild with them. I’ll update when I have more info.

    Langlitz boots question

Thanks for the suggestion. I was planning on reaching out to them after they re-open from their holiday break. I have a Pac NW trip coming up in a couple of weeks, so I may go to Wesco to drop the boots off for a rebuild.

    Langlitz boots question

They look just like Wesco Boss boots. The wear on the stitches indicates to me that it may be time to get some work done, but the rubber outsole still has most of its original thickness intact.

    Langlitz boots question

Hi Everyone, This is a question for the collective historical wisdom here on the forum. I recently bought a vintage pair of Langlitz boots at a local shop. They look like they are going to need resoled/rebuilt. Did anyone other than Wesco ever make boots for Langlitz?

    Gloves

Hansens are nice gloves. I have had some pairs crack when worn again if the leather is deteriorated by age. If the leather is in good shape, they seem like they will last forever.

Opinions on the fit of these leather pants?

If they are not too uncomfortable to wear, you might want to wait for them to break in a bit before having any alterations done. Even the heavy leathers sometimes stretch and you might find they fit even better as they break in. This doesn’t apply to the inseam, of course :) The best advice I...
