Beautiful bowler Randy!
This is inspiration to have my next Gannon, for which I already secured a FEPSA 100x beaver dress weight body in Darkest Brown (chocolate brown). I'll contact Michael ASAP to get my name in his list.

I like the piece (rectangle) of contrasting color on the bow in your new Gannon. I requested similar accents of color to the bows in both of my Gannon hats (both made in July and September of this year). They are a nice little/subtle touch, and they always draw me a smile when I look at them.

Randy,
That is a stupendous Gannon Gambler! Of course, I am very partial to this style, now having two Gannons bashed roughly in that style (both on FEPSA bodies, one Flagstone and one Charcoal). Now I need another one in a "light" color :)

Trucker (US) made of waxed 7 oz. Martexin sailcloth. Waxed on both sides (re-waxable exterior) of shell for warmth and insulation. Body and sleeves fully lined with soft flannel blanket lining. It has one interior media pocket.
New (with tags), never used (other than trying it on once- did not...
Last month I was up on Michael's queue for a new hat, but the Charcoal color I wanted has not been available (from Winchester) for a while. I bit the bullet and ordered a Charcoal 95g FEPSA beaver body and now I have another superb Gannon. The specs are 5.25" open crown (bashed to a modified...
Thank you Randy! I actually asked Michael to shape the brim of the hat similar to one of yours (a silverbelly westerner fedora with a ~1" dark brown ribbon).
Best regards (my fellow Texas compatriot),
Raul
Robert, as you are a hatmaker, I am curious if the listed size of a hat block includes the little extra diameter/circumference to account for the sweatband, effectively yielding a final fitted sized as listed on the block, or if one needs to use a slightly larger block (1-2 sizes larger) than...
A few days ago I received my new hat from Mr. Gannon, a western fedora using a FEPSA dress weight body in flagstone color. I asked for a hat resembling Stetson OR dimensions, actually more like those on a Stetson Ranger. I am very pleased with it!
Specs: 5.5" crown, 3" brim (bound in 3/8"...
Country rock blues is a music genre I realy like, and Dave Alvin (from Downey, CA) is one of my favorite performers. In this video of the song "Downey to Lubbock", with Jimmie Dale Gilmore (from Lubbock, TX), Dave wears a "western-fedora" hat that I really like. There are other types of hats...
I went with Robert's idea of going "wild" with the liner, as the wearer/owner of the hat is primarily the only one that sees it every time he puts it on. I understand the liner fabric is the type used for Japanese kimonos.
A few days ago I received a Wolfrae hat, my first custom. Robert made it with a dress weight FEPSA 100% beaver body, in Iron color (sort of chameleon rich brown). I am really happy with it!
The hat borrows some design cues from an Open Road: a 5.5" open crown with a bound brim of 3". I put a...
Chad,
Even the sterling silver and gold hatband buckles on "top of the line" western hats can look "cheesy".
I am a big fan of leather hatbands and decent buckles/pins on the hatbands. Here some examples on my "re-furbished" western hats:
Sterling silver (5/8") buckleset on a Resistol 15X...
I read the article, and found it very interesting that camel urine and human urine were used to improve the felting process, attributed to the nitrogen content in urine (urea is the main compound in urine - also being the cheaper and most widely sold/used fertilizer in agriculture). The urine of...
