Doug, In shoe making the welt is the narrow strip of leather that runs around the shoe between the insole (and upper) and the outsole. I believe what you are describing is a welt as seen traditionally on Red Wing work boots. There is no light color leather welt on these Red Wings. They are...- carter

New hat: color?
I'm with Warbird on this one. Medium grey, then a mid-brown (chocolate may be OK too), then a midnight or dark navy blue, and, finally, a rust, carmel, or tan just to round things out. By then, you should be hooked. The rest is up to you. ;) :) -
